H1N1 FTW!
Roommate had it, gave it to me...f'in sweeeeeeeeeeeet.
This whole thing is so overrated. A fever, some coughing and sneezing..OMG the HORROR  I had 3 people ask me why I'm not in the hospital. Gotta love fear spread by the media. This is the first time I've been sick in years...so I'm being a big baby but still....I don't understand the hype. |
my coworker got paid to stay home with this. and we dont get paid sick days.. WIN
|
I hope you feel better :)
|
Did you get tested for it? Maybe you just have a cold?
JW :D |
No, I'm assuming it is since that's what my roommate had. I don't have health insurance so I'm not paying for some doctor to tell me I'm sick lol
|
H1N1 is deadly, so either you need to be worried, or you don't have it. Do a search on yahoo for the symptoms.
Hope you feel better. |
H1N1 is NOT as deadly as people are lead to believe...the people that have died either died from other complications(heart disease, lung disease, reduce immune system from cancer, AIDS etc) or it turned into something else. That's the part the media doesn't tell you, they just say X amount of people died...when in reality there's more to the story.
This is no stronger than the regular flu...this entire thing has been blown WAY out of proportion by the media(I'll keep politics out of this). It does hit some people harder but there is no need for widespread panic. That's directly from friends that are nurses, doctors, NP's etc. |
I have a friend who's daughter had it last year (diagnosed as H1N1). It is just another strain of the flu. She kept drinking gatorade, stayed home from school, and did just fine.

Its not the flu, its what it does to your body and lets anything else you might get killl you. Just keep it in check and don't run your self down and you will be OK. FWIW, I won't be taking a h1n1 flu shot. Just got the regular swine flu a few weeks back, thats good enough for me. |
i dono if i want you on the forums.....:D

....and you're not going to tell me anything otherwise...the media is blowing this out of proportion. I know plenty of people that had it and were perfectly fine...and I'm taking advice from medical professions that have a brain...not FoxNews and MSNBC. It can turn into other things...but it depends on the person. |
^Regular flu kills more people annually than the h1n1 has. I hate how the news hypes all this crap up. Im not getting the shot never gotten a flu shot before, and never had the flu. My mom had h1n1, I got sick for a few days afterward coughing, congested, runny nose, nothing serious.
|
I've never had a flu shot either. I don't know for sure it's what I have but I've been exposed to it for a week now and I haven't been sick in years(and that's no exaggeration).
Could it be just a cold? Sure but I doubt it. ...and yes, the regular flu has killed way more people than this H1N1 BS. But then again most people just go with whatever is said on the news without doing their own research. |
i agree with you guys but how long has the flu been around versus h1n1? its like saying bullets have killed more people than light sabers......in due time

Ok for clarification
h1n1 == Swineflu Its the same thing except the first scared we called it swine flu now we're calling it H1N1 because they've had time to study it etc and know exactly what makes the strain different. Idk if you guys read this but back when the first scare happened when they were estimating it was gonna erupt in plague like death numbers when it spread and everyone was freaking out, when all was said and done CDC published and article that basically said "oops we over reacted really bad, its just the flu" |

H1N1 is over hyped...... its all in the media. The dont tell you on the news every time someone with the regular flu dies. My mom had it for about 2 weeks. She felt terrible and stayed home and got some rest. She is fine now and back to work!
|
To date for this year so far, the regular Flu has killed more then H1N1 strain has.
Not a lifetime vs lifetime thing. I have something, but its not H1N1. I went on the CDC's site to hear the symptoms, and its just like the regular flu. I have head and chest congestion, Had a runny nose, thats gone now but no body aches, no vomiting or other, No fever or cold sweats But now I have an ear infection...ugh. The deal with H1N1 isnt that is some deadly strain, its that we havent seen this strain for some 40+ years. Older generation (Scott, James, etc etc..) have already tasted it. Old Man Bill probably saw it 2-3 times in his lifespan. Flu usally kills the old and sickly, but H1N1 has also killed some who have no underlying health issues, another concern. I think we as a society have shrugged off the Flu as just another type of cold, same with Strep or the like. |
Damn kids

"If you are ill with the following symptoms, please remain at home until 24 hours after your fever has resolved.
- Fever >100.0 - Sore throat and/or cough - Headache - Runny nose and/or nasal congestion - Body aches - You may also experience nausea/vomiting and/ or diarrhea" Damn college kids spreading H1N1 like its their job... |
^^yeah, their job is to spread the herpes virus, not this!

Get lots of rest! |
Problem is, no student is gonna a week off to get better at the risk of failing their classes... wooooo for H1N1.
And yea you can get an H1N1 shot... Montclair is the state school distributor and I think we are getting the vaccine soon. |
