maroman88 11-18-2009 06:09 PM

hahaha thats pretty cool!

BigAls87Z28 11-19-2009 01:53 AM

I think GM is selling the Deleware plant to Fisker. If the tooling is sold off to DMC, they will have made more money in the sale of the equipment then on the actual cars themselves...ahahaha.

i think its kinda cool, at first i almost got worried that the cars would be exactly the same as thye are now, making my SKY redline not really any different. but from the 2 renderings on that link page it seems they are making some changes that it will look slightly different.

i decided to keep my SKY cuz its def a cool looking car and quick and rare, heck, only about 35,000 SKYs were made from 2006-2009, and Redlines were only from 07-09. and account for maybe 1/3 of those 35,000 cars, so maybe close to 15,000 SKY Redlines ever built..any that means maybe only 3,000 Yellow ones(yellow was an additional color charge)

maybe i can use some DMC parts to customize my sky someday hahaha

I wonder if they'll make a new back to the future?

Well, 2015 is coming up soon, so they better get on that.

Looks like a Solstice but a different front and rear bumper cover. Headlights and tails look the same.
Damn it, I want a hard top!

I never really wanted a 'vert but it was the only way the car was offered when it first came out. I want the hardtop bad but Scott tells me I need a hole in my more, which is probably true  I just need to find someone to trade me for mine that has a hardtop, and if you knew me you would know I only have hardtop cars, all of them except the Solstice :|

What is a "more"?

And I'm sorry to hear you don't like convertibles :|

Actually it is more about leaky t-tops and I hate the sun  I never put the top down in the Solstice really. AC on all the time when needed. Hell I had the air on in the work van a few times this month because it was too warm in there after sitting in the sun for a few hours.

Hate the sun, I could see. We've had 2 t-top cars (86 T/A, 92 Formula), and 1 vert (obvious), and none have leaked . I go with the top down unless it's raining out. Could be 30 degrees, could be 90 degrees. I love being outside.

PolarBear 11-19-2009 03:09 PM

I like to be outside but not if it is more than 50, lol. I hate the sun because it makes it hot, I know we need it but I can chose to not like it

As Al mentioned before, doesn't look like it's gonna happen:

News of Fisker buying GM's shuttered Wilmington Assembly plant is good news for Fisker, but bad news for the DeLorean Solstice, which the new DeLorean Motor Company hoped to build at the plant.

DMC and an undisclosed partner had hoped to restart the 3.2 million sqaure-foot Wilmington, Delaware plant with renewed production of the Kappa-based coupes, which were the last vehicles built at the plant.

This turn of events put those plans in question.

"I'm glad to see some progress with Fisker's project and glad to see some of the DOE/ATVM money used to support green cars and green manufacturer," said James Espy, Vice President of the DeLorean Motor Company in a quick chat with us today. "I still hope there's a future for a Solstice/Sky product to carry on and until we hear otherwise we'll continue our efforts towards that end."

How much hope is there? According to Fisker, production likely won't begin until late 2012, which means the plant will sit, tooled for building Solstices, until renovations and retooling starts.

It's possible Fisker could consent to making money off the plant and putting people back to work immediately by starting limited production on Solstice vehicles before all the tooling is scrapped, but we've yet to hear anything confirming this as a possibility.

In the meantime, Solstice/DeLorean fans will have to wait.
