C4C Japan version

Hurray for more unfair global markets or just us being not so bright...

Should have done the same in the USA...

WildBillyT 12-10-2009 05:32 PM

I think we tried to do that and Japan cried foul.

And yet, why do we bend to other countries but are content to sit on our thumbs when they screw us over?

sweetbmxrider 12-10-2009 05:44 PM

So who's at fault for us ceding to their cries? I thought this from the beginning, if this is supposed to help American economy, it should be limited to cars at least assembled in the US.

BonzoHansen 12-10-2009 06:12 PM

Fine. 2010 the feds do it again, big 3 only.

Blacdout96 12-10-2009 08:26 PM

Problem is, most people already goth their cars, so it wouldn't be as big a turn out next year as this year, but it would certainly hurt the import market.

I disagree. Many people were skidding for having/fear of losing their jobs. Imagine running this again after the economy having picked up? I can't imagine it not being another success. Although, I think they should change the rules a bit and do it by co2 emissions rather than fuel economy. This will help get some really old domestics off the road that just missed the cut off.

Amazing for sure. When it was brought up, American congressman and women with transplants in thier states cried foul as well.
Its not like American cars sell at any level over there to really see a massive gain. The Big 3 should worry about other problems.
Its a non-issue to me.

Foosh 12-11-2009 11:32 PM

Better than all that, make it only for cars built in America by the Big 3... buying cars not made in the US hurts just as much as buying a Japanese car.

Z28 Heritage 12-12-2009 12:53 AM

Really we don't buy American cars my moms 2001 Monte SS was built in Canada. So...... Yea

BigAls87Z28 12-12-2009 01:47 AM

There are a lot of cars made in America as well as Canada and Mexico.
When cars are made in either of those countires, its considerd "American" as in North America.

Yup. Canadians and Mexicans are Americans.

Blacdout96 12-12-2009 02:26 PM

Well just like we argued before in here, even though some import cars and trucks, like the Tundra's, are made in America, where does our money go, back overseas. So even though our cars are manufactured in Canada and Mexico, the money comes to the U.S., and IMO thats the important part.

Yea, I prefer to buy vehicles from the Big 3 made in the USA. My Camaro and my Jeep were built in Ohio (Norwood and Toledo, respectively), and my wife's jeep was built in Detroit.
