transmision strength?

how strong is a stock 4l60e? i want to but a th350 or th400 but i dont really have much money right now so im thinkin that i might just put a mvb in my 4l60e and spend a lot on a rear

Not worth going to a TH350 in my opinion. You can build a 4L60-E up pretty good. If you are pushing a lot of hp then consider going to the TH400/4L80.

Do the rear first, though. That's the real weak link.

I would replace the 10 bolt before the 4L60e

Yup.

Even though my ten bolt went mid 11's on slicks many times...

Non-OD transmission FTL if you plan on driving the car on the street

Take a look at the 4L80E , it's the truck equivelient. $60 from junkyard, jsut rebuild it or if u get one in good condition. You need cross member, either cut your harness or get one, and a TQ conveter that has 4l80E/4L60E. They usually can hold up more than 4L60E.

The 4L80-E is a descendent of the TH400, much like the 4L60-E is a descendent of the TH350.
