AC comp Question

I took off my AC components a while ago, and was wondering if the compressor is shot if it sits with no refrigerant in it?

seals would probably dry out and leak. leave it for the other guy to find out. say it worked fine when removed and disclaimed!

your not sopposed to leave any a/c components that you plan on reusing exposed to fresh air... when ever we take stuff apart we always tape up the exposed lines... has something to do with the esther oil used in the systems and absorbing moisture... chances are it will be fine if it worked when it was taken off.. .mine used to squeal...you selling it?

^sell it to him, take his as a core, then you'll have a core if you need it later. I'd cap everything too, if for no other reason then to keep the dust & dirt out.

You'll also need a drier tank if you put the AC back in, orafice tube too.

should have capped it off, but the residual refridgerant oil should keep the seals & other parts in good shape

If your dryer is left uncapped it's junk, compressor might be ok from any residual pag oil. It's out of the car...it's really easy to replace the manifold seal and the seal inbetween the 2 halves of the case.
