Why is it...

...that people in 4x4 vehicles think that they can drive through ANYTHING?

There are 3 people in my parking lot right now stuck, the parking lot was plowed early this morning so needless to say there's at least a foot of snow AND ice underneath....

Not to mention one is danger close to the GTA trying to get up the hill.

I'm about to go out there with a hockey stick and beat him with it if he gets any closer.

It should be legal to kill stupid people.

LTb1ow 02-10-2010 06:30 PM

Ha, there was a big postal truck outside my room this morning... just spinning and spinning...

WildBillyT 02-10-2010 06:31 PM

Not to mention how many people in 4x4s have regular passenger car tires on them.

sweetbmxrider 02-10-2010 06:36 PM

Haha that thought goes thru my head from time to time. I say ship them all to montana so we don't have to deal with them as much.

i'm sure plenty of people didn't have a choice.

69BirdX 02-10-2010 07:45 PM

Regardless if you can move you still need to stop and 4wd isn't going to help there

JL8Jeff 02-10-2010 07:53 PM

It's because most 4wd vehicles have crappy street tires and they are really 2 wd with 1 front wheel and 1 rear wheel engaged. Without a locker or limited slip, most 4wd vehicles are severely handicapped and most people have no idea. I was explaining this to somebody at work and the look on his face was priceless. He has a fwd car and does better in the snow than most 4wd but he had no idea why they are as bad as they are.

Oh yeah, lots of people are stupid with no common sense as well.

Meh.....I had no problems driving on 95 and Rt 1 this afternoon getting to work in my Jeep. I actually almost got run off the road by a minivan with NC plates on it doing 50+ up Rt 1 in Princeton.

I been driving my mother's Toyota 4Runner and that things is an animal in the snow. I drove it out of an un-plowed parking lot with over 2 feet of snow and not one bit of wheel spin. Contrary to belief 4wd does stop better in the snow. 2wd vehicles tend to lock up 2 wheels in the snow, usually the front wheels first. Its harder to only lock up the front tire with 4wd engaged.

Very true, especially if your t-case has no viscous coupling.

Caddy did just fine. I drove during the "storm" and after the plows re-dirtied my driveway. In either case Caddy won.

GrandmasterCow 02-11-2010 01:18 AM

i was out all day with my buddy in his evo. a 500hp evo handles wonderfully in the snow :)

bandit88 02-11-2010 06:54 AM

i haven't had the beetle out in the snow this storm, but the last one i was pleasantly surprised by its performance..... def better than the cavi

maroman88 02-11-2010 08:07 AM

i got the jeep stuck on an unplowed cut thru street that slopes towards a creek that was already roughed up from people messing around too... i had my shovel and eventually got out lol, other then that the jeep had no problem on real roads
