Question

Where can I find an accurate list of engine specs for GM production engines?

Thats all!

Thanks, but I need one for older engines, I guess I should have specified. Trying to do some research on 305's between 87-89. Thanks.

I think TGO has a pretty good history on 305's in third gens.

88 actually was the last year

Found it!
T/A: 195hp @ 4000rpm, 295tq @ 2800
MC: 180hp @ 4800rpm, 225tq @ 3200

I was curious because I was offered a 305 from my wifes cousin at an insanely cheap price with low miles and was wondering if it was worth swapping. The one in the T/A runs great but it NEEDS new gaskets almost everywhere, valve covers, oil pan, etc. I thought if I was gonna pull the 305 in the spring to clean it up, maybe I could throw the MC engine instead and just be done with it. Who knows!

I got a book on casting numberings with production runs horsepower flow rates of heads of the older SBC.

Didnt the 305 HO have over heating issues?

Not that I have heard of but I only knew 3 people with them growing up, so I'm sure there is plenty I dont know about them. My uncle only has 30k miles on his '87 SS, so he has yet to run into any problems!
