i wonder what the block was for and how strong that really is compared to the usual cast blocks... those things much cost a fortune though...

Looks like it would take some insane programming to get all those dimensions right. I can imagine if there was one little problem with the calibration of the machine it would mean a lot of money down the tube.

Not if they used a program like Solidworks which has direct plug in capabilities. Then all they need is a good engineer.

That process is amazing to watch, but I can't see a block like that being usable.

It's not much more programing. If you have the money to by a 5 axis machine then your def running top of the line programing equipment. I cnc program all day but most I stuff I do is basic but I've watched my boss do similar stuff to that with out 4 axis machine. It neat stuff they got machines that are big enough to fit plane fusealages in they are neat to see. The video of the w16 bugatti motor is cooler look that one up. 5th axis machines are closer to 500,000 to 750,000 dollars
