Calling All Computer People....Yup Another One Of These

Last night my sub stopped working, tried plugging in my Turtle Beach X1 headset to listen to music and the computer froze up. Hard booted and the Keyboard Failure came up after it loaded BIOS, wouldnt go any further. Found my old PS/2 keyboard and that fires up, loads bios with no keyboard failure aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand.....nothing....black.

a few people have said this seems like a fried mobo issue so heres the question....does anyone have any spare computer parts laying around that i can toss a few bucks for? right now its a dell Optiplex gx270 with a p4 3 ghz processer.

anyone have anything comparable or better, id like to get it working as cheap as possible. a friend has a e machine brand new for like 200 but id rather not spend that much as my laptop still works but its uber slow.

something in the 50 bucks range....i have car parts i can trade too if you need anything

honestly sounds like you are overheating... those machines are notorious for failing capacitors. I have i think 8 of these machines sitting in my office at work that have failed mobo's. the capacitors pop, you can pop open the machine and check out the capacitors

I have replaced a lot of capacitor on Dell motherboards. If you get the capacitance and voltages off of them you can usually replace them with good success and they only cost a few dollars for all of them. Replacing them is kind of a pain if you dont have the proper equipment though.
