As some of you may know this car was in a flood several years ago, I purchased it several months ago and will be working on turning it into a track only car over the next year or two. The entire drivetrain will be removed this spring/summer and rebuilt, but the car will keep the V6. Wish me luck. -Phoenix http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._7871111_n.jpg |
SWEET!
|
holy hell. that looks like a good time. what et's you goin for? what's the plans for the motor/trans/rear/fuel etc.....
|
them seat belts black?

As of now... and yes things could change... I plan on doing a 2 stage nitrous system, a 75 shot up front and then a larger direct port shot, all with a progressive controller.
The motor will be rebuilt with forged internals, prob. GTP rods and custom nitrous rings, Ill be looking for a cam as well. I have not really had the chance to go over the car much or even write up the info from the previous owner yet, so if I get something wrong, he may be able to correct me if he wishes, or anyone else who knew the car well. It has 1.6 ratio rocker arms already and ported upper and lower intakes. Trans is already built with a 4200 nitrous stall converter, so that'll get pulled out, and sent out to be opened up, cleaned and whatever else. Rear is 4.11s with a locker and made many 12 sec passes, so I'm not sure how much more life it has left in it. It has shorty headers which i may try to find LTs instead. Also has a tubular k member. I really don't have an ET goal, with the hp increase in nitrous I'm planning, and major weight reduction, your guess is as good as mine. I believe the previous setup had a best time of 12.1 I had planned on fiberglass doors but may be sticking with the stock composite ones after lightening them up some. Also, I will NOT be running in any classes so im not concerned with those specifics. Its more of a project just because I can... |

that IROC in the backround looks awfully familiar mr PHOENIX! as well as the last place i saw THIS car
|
Look at all that weight reduction! Reminds me of James' old bird
Wait.... ... |
How much of the original interior do you plan on putting back in? Are you keeping the stock dash etc? Very cool project by the way. I admire the fact that youre keeping the V6 as well. Very interesting project keep us up to date.

edit: welcome, newb. re-edit: I guess you've been found out so you're no longer a newb. |
Lookin good man. Any plans for forced induction...?
|
you should just put a FAST system in it and an aftermarket cluster with a sheet metal dash :)

Man with a nice turbo set up or even swapping a grandprix FTP stupidcharger on that thing'll be really fast with the nitrous.
|
with the fast, thats only engine management right? you'd have to rewire everything else on the car if you wanted to drive on the street, correct? headlights, brake lights, wipers, etc...
|
That house looks familiar

yea, my fun has been spoiled. i bought the car, lol.
Anyways, it will be a track only car, all lighting will be removed along with anything else no longer necessary. None of the stock interior will be going back in. Just a 6 point roll bar, racing seat and gauges probably with a small aluminum dash section. |
