98-02 Firebird Projector Headlight Conversion Complete
Well it's finally all done and I'm happy to say that the final product really came out great. Everything is completely Plug-n-Play with no permanent modification done to the car. The difference is truly night and day. I want to thank Jersey Mike for letting me cut loose on his car and being so accommodating with letting me play with his vehicle.
Overall, the goals were quite simple however no one has achieved it the way I have done and I am quite proud of that. Others have retrofitted projectors to the 98+ birds but just about everything I seen has required extensive modification to the vehicle with sometimes unattractive and so so results. The low beams use HIDs while the high beams are halogens. Reason simply being HIDs don't like being cycled on and off which is many times what we use high beams for. HIDs are unnecessary for the highs but certainly could be done. Options for these cars include: 1) Silverstar Sealed Beam Upgrades - Not very cheap and lackluster results 2) Conversion Housings - Better but not great 3) Conversion Housings with HID kit - Not all that cheap and poor performance (i.e. lighting everywhere) 4) Fixed headlight conversion - Very poor lighting performance, questionable looks, and a $1k price tag I believe this setup outperforms anything else on the market. I started an interest thread on LS1Tech and the its seems to have been very well received so far. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/appear...lete-pics.html Enough talk, time for pics. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...t/DSC01679.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...t/DSC01697.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...t/DSC01703.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...t/DSC01705.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...t/DSC01708.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...t/DSC01717.jpg |
looks awesome!

Out of curiosity, what made you arrange them the way you did? I'm just wondering why they both look like they are from the same side of the car. Basically what I'm getting at is why aren't the lights symmetrical?

flip the passengers side and youll have nice brightness in the middle and low on the sides

I'm telling you all now, every 'bird should have came with these. They are in *every* way superior to anything else on the market.
I remember cringing while driving from Valley Hospital down to New Brunswick in the rain about two months ago--seriously, cringing because the lighting was stupid poor. I've put nearly 200 miles on the car now with the projectors on and I could not be happier. |
