god damnit. please help.
so again, i get teabagged...
my 2nd choice in hood for my durango is 570 plus shipping. i found one on a forum for 250 shipped. i hopped on it, obviously. i paid him last night and this morning when he went to ship it out, it blew out of his pickup and landed on the highway. WTF HE DIDNT STRAP IT DOWN?!?! so of course its fiberglass and the corners got a little ****ed up. i will get pics in a few minutes... he said he dropped it off at a body shop and the guy said 20 bucks and he will fix it?! im assuming he just bondoed it to "doctor it up" and am wondering what you guys think i should do... a body shop i know around here looked at the pics and said offer him 100 bucks cuz who knows what the fiberglass is gunna do, like continue to crack or what have you. |
he said that one corner is just scratched and no chips or nothing.

Get your money back and walk away. The last thing you want are hairline cracks in the hood. |
Really depends on how bad it cracked and if you can reinforce it from the bottom with some fiberglass matting to keep it from spreading. If you don't care how the bottom looks and you mat it it'll give it extra strength and keep the crack from spreading.
|
get your money and walk away. it may end up costing as much in repairs down the road then a brand new one would cost if its not repaired correctly.
|
save your money

Seriously? You already said what you should do. Quit bitching about people not telling you the same thing over and over again.
|
well, i talked to the guy again today....the bad section was filled with polyester putty(dumb) and i offered him 140 and he said yes. so imma take it and prolly have maaco paint it(ill prep it) and see how it goes from there. if i get a lot of cracking then i will attempt at fixing it. if not, hopefully i will have my other hood done by then cuz im making my own steel hood.

how many hoods does a car need?

So... you're going to spend an initial $140 on a damaged hood, add time AND money to hopefully fix it, but if that doesn't do it, you have another hood on the way. :banghead: Out of the responses you cried for, whose advice did you wind up taking? |
well i wanted to see what ppl thought of the damage.
but the guys a ****ing dick. he just emailed me and said now his nephew wants it. **** him. scumbag. |
that sucks man
|
sounds like durango guys are jerkoffs...
|
there are a few. but theres some on every forum.....
|
And you seem to want to buy all their crap
|
i actually had money down on a brand new 2wd 5.9L black on black '00 durango... had to be a special order build for a "North east" dealer. Had big plans for it.
Imagine if I had gone down that road instead... haha.. |
so i emailed him back and said what the hell is going on and this is the response i got....
I'm sorry, I think I had replied to you too quickly yesterday. My nephew plans on getting this pickup in spring. He wants to go through it and fix it up (hood, hard tonneau, engine work...etc) He said he'd use the hood, that makes me happy. For me, its just not worth it to drive the hood, spend gas and get $140.00... The hood, in perfect condition is like $500-550. I thought $250 was a great price before all these problems (possibly still is). This just doesn't leave me with peace whereas taking more of a loss for my nephew does. |
Meh, move on. Something will workout.
|
im just uberly pissed that the guy is like that ya know?

but if he went for 140 i would have taken it. |
