Progress Since Cam Install

Found my oil pressure problem, all 4 bolts that hold the cam retainer plate were backed out . Fixed the exhuast leaks, got half tuned before an O2 died, now back to kind of running. Getting this car going has been a struggle lately, but here's some progress pics/vid.

I has exhuast tips again...

Idle clip since cam install The sound level meter recorded max sound at 112 dB idling around 900 rpm.

im glad you figured out your oil pressure problem... i dont know what retainer you are talking about but who was in charge of putting that on the first time???? did you finish the tune yet?? everything else is looking pretty darn good...

Whiplash Performance 03-17-2010 06:59 PM

He's talking about the retainer that holds the cam in. It has a rubber orange gasket on the back side of it.

It's been a fun tune to do so far, we've got it to idle nicely but it would have issues at zero throttle, get rid of the zero throttle issue, then we ran into idling issues.

The car looks good for a Camaro. What exhaust tips are you running?

T69SS 03-17-2010 07:19 PM

They say ractive on them. They came with the hooker catback when I picked it up. I believe they are originally from a tsp rumbler catback.

looks and sounds good

DaSkinnyGuy 03-17-2010 11:16 PM

112 dB thats loud for idle ive tested my catback on a cold start 2 feet behind the car and got 101dB just as a comparison, Bigrocsfirebird his straight pipe V6 got 105dB at idle

KirkEvil 03-17-2010 11:43 PM

Its loud. I think the camera I was using adjusts to noise level to capture tone. Its kind of noticeable in the beginning of the vid when birds are chirping as loud as the exhaust after start up. Just for comparison, I recorded 96 dB with open cutout before the cam using the same meter.

Idk, the camera is a Pentax, says 8.1 megapixels. I reduce all the pictures to show up on this site better.

Is that a call out Haha? Right now the kill stick is all for show. I need to get some 4 ga. wire to kill the alternator and set everything up legit.
