Carfax issues

This is why I hate it when people use carfax as a selling point for their car. I saw this on their lift so I turned around to check this car out on the way home from E-Town with my father. Noticed the rear drivers side rim scratched up towards the middle of the rim, we did some more looking and quickly noticed the passenger door and quarter panel were repainted and the gaskets around the rear windows were hacked, so they didnt have to take out the windows and put new gaskets. The overspray, mismatch in color and runs gave it away as well. So I was just looking some more online and found it listed here. I clicked on the Carfax and read this - No accident / damage reported to CARFAX. I know it works sometimes but like everything else it isnt perfect. BEWARE.

Yea, definitely for use as a guideline and not gospel.

Yea, that just means that they fixed it themselves without ever reporting the accident.

if its not reported to the insurance company or an accident report isnt filed with a police dept, then carfax has no way of knowing about it
