Finally lost my 360 to the RROD
 

Well I purchased my Elite back on July 9th 2007 and today it finnally gave me the RROD and screen freezing. I was playing my NBA 2K9 and it froze during the game. I am so happy because the 3yr warrenty that came with it expires on July 9th. Already recieved my shipping label and will be shipping out tomorrow! There support is much nicer then the Playstation support. I will have to break out my travel Xbox 360 now untill I get my new or refurbed Elite back in 2 weeks. I never jumped so high in joy when something broke then when the RROD appeared!

Now its off to the Phillies game for some tailgate before the game!

Sucks man.....I have had mine since Christmas 2006 and haven't had any trouble *knocks on wood*.

What would have sucked if it broke out of warrenty. I dont care if it breaks when it is covered under warrenty. My original one that I sold when I got my Elite was from Feburary 2006 and it is still alive and kicking as well! It was a Premium.

Yea, mine is a premium. I'm torn as to whether I should leave mine alone since it's so far so good, or take it apart and clean it and cool it better to hopefully prevent any future issues.

i don't play xbox much at all anymore. only at night with friends but with little play time they break easy. i have 4 xbox's so i just rotate them out. one on the 24ft screen outback and one in my room. i love xbox but they break so easy

Doesnt bother me at all because I get a new one for free and not 180.00 it costs when my PS3 broke each time.

Funny story, after I read this thread I went to play xbox. As I turned it on I was thinking to myself "hmm I bought my xbox in july '07". Low and behold it RROD the moment I turned it on. Thanks for jinxing me lol looks like they are getting another xbox in to repair.

I want RROD again just for the free month of LIVE lol

its not a new one, its a refurbished one, and most likely it will fail again because they dont even fully fix them

oh and make sure you dont forget to take your hardrive off before you send it out

I got the 1 light e68 error code last night. After doing some research it looks like its hard drive related...apparently the system works fine if I pop if off and theres a million fix's on youtube...think I dogged the bullet of having to deal w/ xbox this time...fyi I purchased my system right around the same time and the last game i was playin was nba live:rofl: 09

I dont give a **** if it is a new one or a refurb. It's FREE! My PS3 broke 2 times and each after it was out of warrenty!

Dont forget to take the faceplate off either!

I have my travel 360 hooked up now untill I get my Elite back.

i got one once, me and my bro both dove for it, i unplugged it and my bro turned it off, turned it back on a few hours later, it was like nothing ever happened

When You go to Dallas 3 times a year for 3-4weeks at a time it get pretty boring!

I got rrod the day halo 3 came out..... ran to the store and bought a new one the next day! What a waste of a midnight release though :(

i just read a study of 500000 xb owners, 55% of people that had to get their xb repaired, ended up having to get it fixed again in the future

Yeah I know. I didnt have any backup for my PS3's when they broke!! Was in the middle of Metal Gear Solid 4 when one went out. It sucked. Had to wait untill the next payday to get another PS3 since the Warrenty was up on it! Like I said before, I dont mind having to get it fixed as long as it is free!!

Man you must be a MAC user since you have it in for Microsoft!

lol ive had friends that owned 360's past the warranty period and they still got their boxes fixed for free....AND OF COURSE you get a refurbished one in the mail. what do you think they do with all the other xbox's that get sent back in??? throw em away???

Just because you don't like Microsoft doesn't mean you are a Mac fanboy....PCs run great on linux too :)

i just think its messed up what microsoft pulls off. example, when they revised the xbox home screen and online in that huge update, my coworker did the update and when it restarted it RRinged, he called them, they said yes we know that 8% (or something in that area) of xbox's would fail because of the update, yet still they were charging him $100 to fix it.

what do you think the purpose of the arcade is? its not for first time buyers, its for people that have the money and dont want to wait a month to get it fixed, so they spend an extra $100 and buy a new one. from what ive seen, 75% of arcade buyers buy it because their previous xbox failed

I bought my ARcade because I wanted a Cheap Xbox to travel with when I am on the road for a month at a time!

I guess you are not a PS3 owner when a couple months ago they sent out emails telling people like me not to log onto the PSN because I have a older PS3 ( not slim) and if I log on it would break my PS3 due to the Leap year bug! Or when you update your PS3 with the new dashboard updates that it doesnt read Blu Ray discs anymore!

Oh and how is a Grand Prix a 4 door Trans Am? You might be a fanboy of pontiac but you must really hate your car! First you call it a 4 door T/A ! ( its a Grand Prix with its on personality), Then you say hopefully my next car is a WS6, ( which tells me you really dont like your car you are just waiting untill you find a WS6 to buy to get out of your GP), and third you have your Dads car listed in your sig! How can you call yourself a pontiac fanboy when all you do is talk about how much you would rather have a T/A even though you have a pontiac? You want a T/A so much that you have your dads car listed in your sig! I wouldnt call yourself a pontiac fanboy Just maybe a T/A fanboy.

I just registered my Arcade Xbox on there website. It was purchased March 09 so the 1yr warrenty is up. It is still covered under the 3yr General Hardware warrenty ( 3 red lights). So yeah that box is covered till 2012! Pretty bad ass! Also saw that the new Elite bundle is out with Halo ODST and Forza3 included!
