What level of mods do you want for your car?

What level of mods do you want?

For the Nova- just about everything. Tires all the way up to headliner. Pro-touring suspension, modern electronics, modern carb'd big block and OD trans someday. A "modernization" of the whole car.

no one touches my car but me. so i picked the only option that reflected.

I read his answers as the more modified a car is the fewer shops that can/will work on it - which is true. The question is not do you work on your own car. At least that is what I got out of this.

Street and strip. Thats the level for me in a nutshell

Blackbirdws6 05-26-2010 09:24 PM

I like a nasty street car over a purpose built vehicle. Costs sometimes more $$ that way but its what I want. Hopefully this new build will put my car at a whole new level.

ib4200 05-26-2010 09:27 PM

as rice as possible

Z28 Heritage 05-26-2010 10:18 PM

List of wants on my Camaro....

383 stroker
Needs Paint stripes redone
Floor pan
Rust removed
Carpet
torque thrust ii's
New weather striping

Thats about it and i would only let one person work on it. Vinnie Green.

True but wouldn't it be the opposite in a way that the more mods you have the more a shop HAS to work on it?

How many people here can hook up their own nitrous kit(the RIGHT way lol) or install a turbo set up? I think the more wild you get the more a shop would have to be involved.

Level 12-antenna switch.

Game over.

SilverDropTop 05-27-2010 08:38 AM

The camaro is staying a mild street and strip car (heads, cam, gears, converter, and some suspension work). The bird will also be a street and strip car but a bit more wild (getting a turbocharged 5.3 and 4l80E). I like to do all my own work so no shops for me unless it's machine work or powdercoating. I think purpose built cars are awesome to watch run at the track but I want to be able to drive my cars everywhere.

Wow. Lots of diversified responses. But it seems that most want to push their car to the max.

I made this poll to see if member had a specific "vision" of where they wanted their car to be. Adding a stereo and leaving all else stock, is just fine, and there are no worries about needing service while out on a long trip. Going balls to the wall is a wonderful option too. But there are serious drawbacks too, and for street use, especially if used for long trips, where a breakdown might occur.

Personally, I made a Microsoft Project plan of what I wanted in my car. So far I have accomplished all but the few minor issues. When the plan is complete, so is the car. I will enjoy it from that point on as a competent street car I can take on vacation and other trips and not worry about service.

Those of you who have serious race machines probably have backup cars for when the fbody brakes down. And that is common if you go to the strip often.

So, there you have it. That is why I posted the thread. Its good to know where the general population is coming from.

I didn't see the option for me - I want the following from my car:

Fart pipe
Stick on hood scoop
10,000 rpm tach in an auto car
Whistle tip exhaust
Synthetic muffler bearings
Cross drilled brake lines
Big wing
