I am sad.
Now batting for the Yankees, number 2, Derek Jee-tah, number 2 In this one, I got goose bumps when he announced Thurman Munson. Long live the Captain. Bob Sheppard Tribute, Yankee Stadium, 5/7/2000 Reggie said it best, he is part of the dignity of the Yankees. Quote:

I remember going to my first game in 1983 and hearing Bob Sheppard announce, "now batting, number twenty three, Don Mattingly, number twenty three". Twenty years later I get tickets to Opening Day in 2004. I got there early to hear the lineups announced and when it came time to announce the hitting coach, Bob Sheppard's unique voice reverberated around old Yankee Stadium as he announced, "hitting coach, number twenty three, Don Mattingly, number twenty three". The greatest players ever to play baseball have had their names announced by the greatest announcer ever, and as the players came and went, Bob Sheppard always remained.
