clutch or trans problem?

im looking into a few camaros and found a great deal but the seller said the only thing thats wrong is reverse gear is wrong...im thinking thats a trans problem but he said his mechanic said clutch...whats your take

if the other gears work my $0.02 is trans

when my trans went (95 t/a) reverse syncro was the first to go. Me being a dumb ass kept trying to get it into reverse ignoring the grinding and destroyed my clutch lol. But yeah I would have to say from experience it sounds like a trans problem not a clutch.

Does the clutch let out low to the floor? Or really high? If not, and the other gears work, probably needs a new synchro or reverse gear. is it grinding when you put it in reverse? Either way, the trans can be removed in a couple of hours and you can have it rebuilt for a decent price and have piece of mind. Its really not that tough to remove after you've learned how to do it the first time (just like everything else)
