stuck in 2nd gear
 

i took the iroc out for the first time in a week today and it started up and drove normal for about 15 minuits.. after stopping at a redlight it stalled and when i started back up i started to drive and the trans wouldnt shift it would just wind up until i let off the gas.. checked under the car.. the shift cable is working fine, im trying to troubleshoot

anyone have any idea???

could be time for a rebuild..

Just a thought...I had that problem on my daily driver (96 Cirrus), and it ended up being low transmission fluid. The thing wouldnt shift no matter what, and as soon as I added fluid, it was fine.

any auto parts stores carry a 700r4 governor/ gear or is it something i would have to special order online

Does the car sit for long periods of time? Maybe the TCC solenoid is stuck? If you put the shifter manually into first gear, will it move, and then shift it into 2nd?
