wtb 3.42 or higher ratio 4th gen rear - BOUGHT

prefer from 98 and up but if its nice ill take a 93+ must have 3.42s or higher numerically, prefer with brakes but again if its nice ill take it, ill pay 275 cash or lower

2kblackgtp 09-17-2010 12:27 PM

If you find a rear without the gears your looking for, I have a set of perfect condition 3.42 60k miles stock gears ill sell for 40 bucks

Flippindabird 09-20-2010 04:28 PM

ill give you 100 if you come install them hows that? i could even bring the rear to ya, i have a 323 that i didnt want to change the gears in

Flippindabird 09-27-2010 07:45 PM

ttt

Flippindabird 09-27-2010 07:58 PM

could someone make me a price list of the parts i would need to install the rear gears?? i wanna add up the cost and the labor and see how much it would be

deadtrend1 09-27-2010 08:31 PM

ballpark 300 for labor, 200 for gears, 100 for install kit, and 20 bucks in additive and oil

JSPERFORMANCE 09-27-2010 09:22 PM

A little low on the parts prices but thats in the right ballpark..

Flippindabird 09-28-2010 09:19 AM

thanks guys i def want to get a complete rear then 650 is way too much to spend on something that still has to be sand blasted and painted

Flippindabird 10-11-2010 09:50 AM

tttplease

I'd do $400 on the one thats in my car now. It is a 3 channel with genuine AAM 4.10 gears, auburn posi, stock axles, sphoon welded LCA brackets and comes with backing plates. It has already been sanded and painted and has a brand new inspection cover on it. Let me know...

Flippindabird 10-12-2010 10:33 AM

sounds real good man but the gears are too steep ive got a 700r4 and first gear is 3.06 that coupled with 411 would be WAY tall thanks though... if i was running a stick id grab it

alamantia 10-12-2010 10:37 AM

I understand. I also have the 3.42 ring and pinion that came out of it that i would throw in the sale or sell seperate if you decide you need um.

if he's not interested I am my rear is jus about done, its pretty bad. I did a six speed swap bout 2yrs ago but still have the auto rear with 2.73's which is horrible. so i need to find something soon cause its my DD an dont want it to give out on the highway.

Flippindabird 10-15-2010 11:40 AM

yeah im not interested its too steep for me i wish i could use it but im afraid with those gears and a 700r4 w/ 400+ lb/ft the tranny wont last... my 96 Formula 3.23 rear is for sale CHEAP $175obo nothing wrong mechanically but its real rusty i cant see putting the rust on my car it will just look out of place and horrible, really want it out of my yard, and i can use some cash towards the next rear...

Whiplash Performance 10-15-2010 12:21 PM

Is there any way to check what rear gearing is in the car?
I'm heading to a bone yard this weekend and they have a few 3rd gens there.

Flippindabird 10-15-2010 01:13 PM

in a third gen its pretty random in my experience, ive seen 2.73 1 leggers in 350 tpi cars from the factory... and i THINK they never came with anything higher then 3.42 in manual 305tpi cars... but a friend of mine claims to have had 3.73s(unconfirmed) but its kind of hard to say for sure without counting... i got a rear that definately has 3.23s and is good and will fit your thirdgen $175 probably not much cheaper at the JY

There's a few fourth gen there too 99% v6s though, is there a tag or something I could look at?

Flippindabird 10-15-2010 06:28 PM

sorry i do not know what to look for other then v8 4th gen manuals mostly came with 3.42s and autos only came with 2.73 or 3.23 but there is always the odd one that someone ordered

deadtrend1 10-15-2010 06:35 PM

if you can wait like 2 weeks, I will be pulling the 3.42 4 channel rear end out of my 96 TA.

you would need to buy brake calipers though.

Flippindabird 10-16-2010 08:04 AM
