e-brake cables
My ebrake is very hard to pull up, I was told that my cables are probably stretched. Is there anyway to check which ones bad rather than just simply replacing both?
|
it will require you to jack up the rear of the car, pull both wheel's and rotors. check for cable movement and how the adjustment's are on the park brake shoes. follow the cables and look for adjustments.

Is it tight to pull up all together? How far up does it go? |
its goes up about 2 clicks, then it feels like if I yank it the cables are going to snap
|
the ls1 and 6's use a hat stlye rotor with shoes on the inside for the e brake
did you just have brakes done or anything where they might have adjusted the parking brakes. when you pull up does it at least work properly and hold the car ? and e-brake shouldnt go to high. Mine needs to be adjusted badly it goes about 90* i know my shoes are adjusted just my cable needs to be, you might need a little of both. a little slack on the cable and to bring the shoes out a little |

lol il replace cables if i need to next time i bring my car in at work i will check it out and take some pictures if i can get it to work and what i did
|
it doesn't hold the car at all, and if one brake is engaging, its not enough to hold it...the brakes were replaced recently but about 800 miles prior to the ebrake not working.
