Bumper cars anyone?
I saw this on another forum and thought it was pretty neat. I don't know how true the info is. I have my doubts about the top speed...
What do you do with old Bumper Cars? These little beasties are street legal. They run on either Kawasaki or Honda motorcycle engines and co-opt vintage bumper car bodies. There are seven of these little monsters floating around California , and they're all the creation of one man, Tom Wright , a builder in the outskirts of San Diego who figured the leftovers of the Long Beach Pike amusement park needed a more dignified end than the trash heap. They were originally powered by Harley motors but they rattled like hell and Tom replaces them with Honda or Kawasaki 750's and a couple have been measured as capable of 160 MPH , which is terrifyingly fast in machines with such a short wheelbase. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...wk93/bump1.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...wk93/bump2.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...wk93/bump3.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...wk93/bump4.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...wk93/bump5.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...wk93/bump6.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...wk93/bump7.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...wk93/bump8.jpg |

im wondering how or all things those are legal to drive on the road in california |
One article i read about them stated the DMV issued titles for "special constructed vehicles" to them "by mistake" and it has since been corrected and they no longer have valid Cali plates. (As for the special title, only 500 are given out a year, and they usually go in the first few hours of the day they are made available.)
and the 160mph was done on a dyno. |
Pretty cool, but i wouldnt take it over 50 mph
|
cool stuff
