I've been thinking about selling my car on ebay. Has anyone ever sold a car on ebay, and do you think it is worth doing so?

I sold a 95 V6 Firebird on Ebay. It sold for 990.00.. There was a 50.00 charge to post the car on ebay.. It was worth it because It sold..

Craigslist is good for selling cheaper cars. I have bought two very nice cars from Ebay and sold one nice car. It is worth it, because you are advertising on such a bigger scale than craigslist. But Ebay does take chunk out and if you get paid via Paypal you will lose 4%/

i vote craigslist... when i crashed my irocz i was getting calls and emails within hours of the post... and i mean a bunch... i had to take it down as soon as i sold it cause people were still calling

its hit or miss, ive listed cars on ebay but ull never get close to wat u want.... UNLESS u get 2 people bidding against each other, or its a rare car. i still think the best way is craigslist... or the old fashioned way! stick a sign on it and leave in a busy area for a weekend

i agree. i had a car i could not get rid of a while ago. tried selling on ebay and had people win but never pay up..so i had to relist and pay another fee, etc. i did eventually sell the car..on craigslist

Best way is newspaper...... JK - Obviously Craigslist, since it's free anyway. busy street with a sign, and EBAY. I did all of them, sold eventually on Ebay..

Ebay now allows you to post locally for free as long as they pay cash costs ya nothing so go craigs list and ebay

Bought and sold rims, engines, tires, and within an hour of posting most of my stuff I always get atleast one call.

Also post it in different areas around you, people will travel to find the stuff. Sites like crazedlist and even droid apps let people search multiple location with one click.

Start with Craigslist and then move to Ebay if it doesn't sell. I've bought and sold a few cars/trucks through both. Ebay fees aren't as bad as they used to be but it's better advertising to a bigger audience.

Ebay owns Paypal so they hit you both ways- even if you list for free. Ebay collects a final value fee and Paypal charges fees on a sliding scale. Larger sales are charged at 4%, but less expensive items tend to have higher % fees to make the processing worth the effort. Seems like you'd save money by using Craig's list since you control the price you are willing to accept and you don't have to give any of it back in fees.

If you have the space, sometimes just putting the car out front with a for sale sign can get a car sold quick. Or if you have a good friend, or relative who wouldn't mind the car staying there a week or two trying to get a couple bites. Craigslist is good since it's free, but it can be hell dealing with spam sometimes.

I think of ebay as a last resort way to sell. You're not going to get what you want out of it, money wise, on ebay.

I just listed my truck on Ebay and it was $7 and I've gotten a ton of interest, emails, and phone calls. It does cost, but I've been very successful in the past and in the process of being successful once again in about 4 days...
