I think this is great. There are tracks set up that people can go and race safely as much as they want to, why drive like ********** on the street and risk killing innocent people around them??? They should all be made to watch their car getting crushed in my opinion

BigRocsFirebird 12-17-2010 11:48 PM

yeah street racing ftl

thunder 12-18-2010 03:10 AM

i like the idea of deterrence here, but this is a frivolous act of wastefulness. Does anyone honestly think that when a kid street races that he is weighing the pros and cons of his actions? This seems like nothing more than a politically motivated tough on crime campaign that in the end does very little to address the problem it was designed to deal with

Blacdout96 12-18-2010 07:41 AM

In China, they recently busted 4 kids driving Two 911's, a Lambo, and something else. They were blasting down a highway, ran from cops, and eventually got caught up in a construction zone. all they had to pay was 20 bucks a piece, and write on their cars their wrongdoing...... must be nice to be rich there.

92REDBIRD 12-18-2010 11:58 AM

It would suck to see a 67 camaro or 79 trans am get crushed just for speeding.

thor117 12-18-2010 12:42 PM

in my opinion instead of deterring the racing, i feel like its just going to increase the risks taken in getting away and not getting caught. if they know they're going to lose their car whats the down side in evading.

Plowing into a car or a group of people, or even killing yourself.

thor117 12-18-2010 01:47 PM

if they're being so reckless as to do these illegal street races do you think that they're considering of all of the possible risks to begin with? If they were worried about plowing into a car or a group of people, one might say they probably wouldn't be street racing and that they'd go to a track.

i'm not arguing against or insulting those who do street race. I'm criticizing the tactic that police dept is using. i'm not trying to offend or insult anyone on here

BigRocsFirebird 12-18-2010 01:56 PM

I think they should atleast part the car out if its something good

The Fixer 12-18-2010 02:37 PM

Doh, one of the comments is "What a waste of a good car." SRSLY???

Parting out the cars could surely create some revenue the state needs. But that would also take people to do it and space to do it in and yada yada yada...

coolmanvette75 12-18-2010 03:08 PM

they probably dont part them out because, if you think about it, a good portion of the parts they would sell would go onto cars that street race.

I have a soft spot for a non-riced out honda. They are durable as heck and actually drive well. And I agree, it is a waste of a nice car. That car should have been stripped with the proceeds going towards the police enforcement.

This is exactly why they don't. I don't remember the exact details, but in another jurisdiction they impounded street racer's cars, and then auctioned them off. They didn't allow the previous owner to buy them back. They found that in many cases, the cars were being bought for the original owners by friends or other street racers.

I'll see if I can find the info from that....

Agree, but IMO, red-spoke wheels on a blue car = :rice: . Those two colors don't work well together. Blue car with gray, silver, or black-spokes, and no silly decals = acceptable.

the red on the wheels give the car 100 extra hp lol

This tactic will only stop some of the stupid street racers, however the smart ones will continue to race (smart meaning cautious, planned out racing w/spotters)

I don't agree with the crushing of the cars, ( i don't mind the hondas getting canned)
These cars are peoples possesions & who are they to discard of them.

If they want to use these type of tactics then I would rather see:
Rapists..... get there units crushed or cut off
Thiefs........get there hands crushed or cut off
Pedifiles....get units removed & stuck in cells w/Bubba to be his Biatchh
Murderers..get the chair no parole or life sentences

& so on & so on.........

I think this is retarded. When people think of "street racing" they automatically correlate with scenes and impressions they have of Fast & The Furious films of people racing through populated streets and causing pandemonium; Or a personal experience of some douchebag in a ricer weaving in and out of traffic, fart-can and cheap xenons blaring.

The only similarity between real "street racing" and the thing that most people think of, is that there are two people racing, and there is a "street."
Just my opinion, but two cars, an open stretch of empty straightaway and no pedestrians or residential-anything around isn't a recipe for terror. "...Risk killing innocent people around them. They should all be made to watch their car getting crushed in my opinion." [sarcasm] Yeah, me too. [/sarcasm]

Watch this video, find something wrong with it. This goes out to anyone, please find me what is wrong with how they went about this. Tell me how this is ****ing your life up. Seriously, do it. ***LINK REMOVED***
If someone is going about something safely, I don't think it's right to crush their car because of the technicality of some ******** law.

And by the way, we have enough idiots who try to run from Red & Blues, when currently the repercussions are insurance points, Ticket fees, and possible MVC penalties. Imagine if they knew their car, that they have tens of thousands of dollars invested in, would get crushed--how many people do you think would put the pedal to the floor and run from cops then? And how do you think that'd all end. If you think that a roll race on an open stretch of freeway is more harmful to innocent lives than people running from cops in fear of having their cars crushed, then you either know something I don't, or you're not thinking straight. Bluntly, a law like this would do more harm than good, and would only bring the state more car chases.

Oh, and by the way, that video is from years ago.

Sorry to disappoint you, but here in Phoenix we have the whole "Fast & Furious" street racing scene. Its retarded. When I went to UTI a few of my classmates were from CA, and they said that the same type of street racing is found in several parts of the state.

As far as the video you posted. I see nothing wrong with that. It was "controlled" and safe.

Jersey Mike 12-19-2010 12:43 PM

You're not disappointing me, I know there are idiots out there. But what I was trying to convey is that there are also those who enjoy 10 seconds of WOT on an open stretch of highway when conditions permit, that don't deserve the same nonsense regulations as your Fast & Furious wannabees that race through residential areas.

What it comes down to for me is safety and execution. If someone is endangering the lives of other motorists or pedestrians, then obviously that's irresponsible & they deserve a solid reprimand. But for something like the video I posted above--well, that's not even in the same class as "street racing," in my book. But, on a technicality, it would and often is categorized with such. This is the type of racing that most people I know of do, and frankly I don't think it warrants harsh penalties.

The actual differences are really difficult to explain to those who haven't been involved in both scenes, but trying to get through to the stubborn, thick-headed people and municipalities, who are so eager to scream, "Off with their heads," is a greater challenge all on it's own.

Completely agree

??????? So why hasn't anyone got Infraction points for this thread??????

I thought we weren't supposed to post anything related to "Street Racing" on this forum?
So far 2 videos containing "Street Racing" are up so far.

If this thread was posted by one of our frequent offenders of the "Gestapo Rules & Regulations" (me being one of them) this thread would be locked and Infraction Points would be served in abundance.

just curious Mods, so come on, let me here the excuses....hahahaha

DevilDougWS6 12-19-2010 07:25 PM

Does anyone realize how old this video is? But it is fun to watch ricers get crushed for street racing.
