The New.. Z28.
http://www.chevroletreports.com/blog...ro-z28-is-a-go
Yes.. it's been announced. Now I personally prefer the 5.0 over the SS, but.. this new Z28 looks like it'll murder both the 5.0 and the GT500. Ford will have to step up their game to compete with this monster, first by realizing that if you want power, no replacement for displacement. Also stop using stupid truck engines for your performance cars! The 5.4L they use is a crappy platform for sports cars. Seriously though, GM is offering some SERIOUS bang for the buck.. It's creeping heavily into Corvette territory.. maybe it made it's own niche, the Super Pony Car? |
If they can keep the pricing below $45K, that will be my new car. I love how they deleted the SS bumper vent and added the taller cowl hood. Add a catback, smaller pulley, and tune and your pushing 500 to the tires. SICK!!!

Yes, it was announced a while ago. That article is from September :D

wow lol it's like why buy a ZR1 now lol this thing is half the price and for 5-10 grand more you can match or even pass the ZR1 numbers, but i guess it's still the idea of having a vette vs a Z28

When is the new trans am coming out?
|
This was posted on AZFBA back in September by one of our sponsors:
just got some info today from a lil birdy. GMPP used a local dyno here to do some testing on the 2012 Z28 camaro. The Z2 made8 489RWHP. then with a set of custom headers it picked up 44 rwhp. sorry to let the cat out of the bag |

#'s don't mean anything when it's still slower and less of a car in every aspect.
|
shouldnt a "SS" model be faster then a Z28. i think they have the badging reversed IMHO

Z28 was a better open track car (it's main design intent) |

Who cares? A BBC will out run an LS motor too  There is more to life than 1/4 mile! How would that 396 make out at 7500+ rpm on a road course for hours? What about the SS350? There were 6 cyl SS Chevelles, no? So in the beginning, SS=appearance package, Z28=road race. There weren't even Z28 badges on the 67, it was simply a race package ala 1LE. As with everything, marketers bent things as they wanted later lol.
WBT, do you have 1/4 mile #s on a 396 car vs a Z28? I figure the 396 must be faster in the 1/4 but I'm just curious. |
