State of Emergency....

Anyone else expecting to be at work tomorrow? :(

BigAls87Z28 12-26-2010 08:13 PM

Rain, sleet, snow, I gotta be there.

r0nin89 12-26-2010 08:21 PM

No idea yet tbh. Both of my bosses are jerk asses when it comes to making a decision to tell us not to come in so I'm sure it'll be the normal ****. Call in around 8:30, ask what the hell is going on, be told yeah dont worry about coming in, and then find out tuesday that everyone came in except for me and miss out on a day of work....

The Fixer 12-26-2010 08:22 PM

Nope, I'm off until Jan 3. :)

If I was supposed to work tomorrow, it would be a snow day anyway and school would be closed.

Savage_Messiah 12-26-2010 08:26 PM

I cut a deal where I'd go in on Friday but have off tomm... win.

Honestly though what I can see from my windows is like 4 inches of snow, this state of emergency is ******** for where I am

The more south you go the worse it is. Its like 12inches on the ground right now, 30mph and sideways blizzard snow with bad gusts.

MyFirstZ 12-26-2010 08:30 PM

depends on what it looks like in the morning if i go in or not, we are expected to be there but my foreman knows i have a long commute unlike some guys who do ride there bike

FlyingDutchman 12-26-2010 08:31 PM

going in to shovel make some $$$ at 3am. gonna suck with this wind and 10in of snow.

foff667 12-26-2010 08:32 PM

Yeah I doubt my work will be cancelled

Blackbirdws6 12-26-2010 08:32 PM

Boss told me to not risk coming in. I will be digging out for the better part of the morning anyway. Gotta love technology and being able to work remotely.

Slow-V6 12-26-2010 08:55 PM

I have work if a Hospital calls in and wants me to fix there equipment.

NJ Torque 12-26-2010 08:59 PM

All depends what job we're talking about....

qwikz28 12-26-2010 09:22 PM

The roads around here are pretty bad. The wind makes it nearly impossible to see. I am glad they did it.

This.

NJ346 12-26-2010 09:26 PM

I'll probably go in to make some $ and my commute is only 2.3 miles. Thing is, I believe once it's a state of emergency your boss has the power to keep you at work since it's unsafe to travel

V 12-26-2010 09:44 PM

NJ makes me laugh, its just snow.

Frosty 12-26-2010 09:47 PM

It's all about liability, plus with plows and salt trucks going at full force do you really think they want the idiot drivers out there that think it's safe to drive in a foot and a half of snow?

coolmanvette75 12-26-2010 09:49 PM

almost 2 feet here in old bridge. the camaro is completely covered from wheels up to the roof.

Yep top of my girlfriends corollas doors here in brick. My cars got a 4 foot drift in front of it from parking next to the dumpster in my complex...

Once there is a state of emergency you are supposed to stay off the roads unless you are considered by the state to be essential personnel. They don't really care where you are when the state of emergency is declared, they just want you to stay there.

I am at work now, will likely be here until at least 2:00am, and my boss just informed me that he would rather me stay through the night thanks to the state of emergency. I am prolly gonna head home in a few hours though. Gotta take care of the kids if my wife has to go in to work.

BigAls87Z28 12-26-2010 10:52 PM

I am going to make a prediction for how my day is going to go.

The store manager, who lives 45mins south of the store, will not be able to make it for a host of reasons.
It will be me and one of my drivers. I will get nagged by the 2 shops that are open to get parts to them faster. I will then tell them to please perform a sexual act to themselves, punch out, lock the doors, and head to my fathers to play xbox 360 with my little brother.

LTb1ow 12-26-2010 10:54 PM

I am going to sleep in, and enjoy not having a job to go to.

w00tz for winter break.

V 12-26-2010 11:03 PM
