6spd or Auto? 6spd = supercharger. Auto = Turbo

Neither are "cheap", Both take alot of supporting mods as well...

What's your budget? If you can fab, turbo would be a good way to go but tough to resist the kits available for a supercharger (centrifugal, etc). Going with a large unit won't be of any use unless the bottom end of the engine can handle the power. Make sure everything is sized properly and give yourself a little room to grow.

Seen a Ls magnacharger kit on craiglist for $4000.00

How bothered are you by turbo lag? Noise?

Things to consider
1. Turbos can be kept out of boost to save gas, and then when boost hits, it makes the car feel faster. Superchargers have instantaneous boost though if you prefer.
2. Turbos are Quieter. They a muffling effect. Superchargers on the other hand, don't. And they whine.

All preference. For those reasons, I prefer turbos though. BUT, ultimately, my biggest concern is weight, so heads/cam is what I ultimately ended up with (although I am back on stock heads but that is neither here, nor there).

I suggest you start with bolt ons....headers, catback, intake, etc. See how much you like the change in power and driving characteristics then go from there. Bolt ons are also a fraction of the cost of turbo/supercharger/heads & cam and compliment all of them if you choose one of those routes in the future.

you can keep an eye on the boost gauge to keep a supercharger out of boost too. as long as i didnt get on it hardcore and kept it below 0/positive pressure it got great gas mileage in my supercoupe.

thanks everyone yeah i was leaning to a supercharger. yeah i was looking for heads and cams but everyone i try and look for says it needs to call for specs and **** unless someone knows what goodones i should get and direct me to where i can them i dont really have a budget. i have a full straight exhaust already and an intake and superchip.

I would definately do this first get to learn the car, how it reacts with this, and see where you are after. If you do go forced induction your going to need these supporting mods anyway.

If you have an idea of what you want to do and how much you want to spend come see us. We can get the project going in the right direction. Wether it be N/A, supercharged, or turbo. The GTO can be a really fun car with the right power...

Keep in mind you don't just bolt on a power adder and you're done. You will need a matched combination of parts, the power adder is just part of the equation. From the driveline/suspension to the transmission and internal engine mods, have a plan in place before buying a single part. Pick a goal and budget, and stick to it. Start throwing random parts at it, and the car will either be a slug or you'll drive over the crankshaft when you get on it.
