Camera Question

How many MP camera would i need to take a photo I could blow up to 3'x2' as a poster?

I did it with my 7.1MP camera and it came out pretty nice. I would not go any lower than that but my camera is better than a standard point and shoot but below a SLR.

I was asking the guy I am shooting the used cars with here at my job and he said nothing below 12mp and started going on how it isn't just about mp then lost me instantly in camera jargon. but he has some ridiculous 4k setup that we are using so what he thinks looks good to what I think look good is on two different levels.

What are you usig to do this. Night or day shot. Anything other info.

6mp+ will do the job, I've printed maps larger then that using a ****** screen capture off Google earth.

so my 10mp point and shoot and a decent program or such to enlarge and print and i should be fine to make a poster or 2(maybe even smaller than 2x3)for my own use in my room?

Upload onto cvs.com and print through them. They will recommend what size you can go with based on the photo's resolution. Megapixels don't mean much when you crop a photo.

What it really comes down to is the quality of the printer they are going to be using.
