Just got the rebate form. I called up my local NAPA in South Plainfield and found out it is $5.09 a quart x 12 for a case=$61.08 + tax. Also I just checked the rebate offer form and it says you can buy a 6 quarts case.

Thanks for the tip. It is made for racing, but they stated it will also work well in high performance cars.

God damn it, I just bought 6 quarts a few weeks ago for the GTA and now this comes out. FML.

FYI to flat tappet guys, this is one of the only oils you can run without an additive.

LTb1ow 05-12-2011 01:09 PM

Repped

Wait, damnit.

everything I read is unless you are running high valve spring rates, if you have a broken in engine (like over 10,000 miles) the zinc thing is not that big a concern. not sure if that is 100% accurate, but that is my understanding.

free oil ftw.

Wait this has a high amount of zinc? I do has fresh lt1......

Yes. Not as important to a roller cam car though.

sweetbmxrider 05-12-2011 07:23 PM

No I know but it does help protect the bearings and freshly machined surfaces all over.

edit: Ah, synthetic only. No thanks.

BigAls87Z28 05-15-2011 03:30 AM

Why no synthetic?

sweetbmxrider 05-15-2011 09:57 AM

Mobil 1 is the only synthetic pal

JL8Jeff 05-15-2011 10:27 AM

Autozone has the Mobil 1 synth 5 liter jug plus a Mobil 1 filter for $32.99 right now. I just did a change in the truck yesterday. I might pick up some more for the Nov oil change. I just noticed my last oil change was 11/11/10 and I barely put 3000 miles on the truck by 5/14/11. Regardless of the mileage, I don't like going more than 6 months without changing the oil.

BigAls87Z28 05-17-2011 09:32 PM

That same M1 deal was 29.99 last month. Crazy AutoZone.

Jersey Mike 05-17-2011 11:51 PM

Just paid $35 (after tax) for the M1 5Liter jug at Advanced today. Wish I had seen the Autozone special. Oh well.

Just bought my 6 qt. case of Valvoline VR-1 Synthetic Racing Oil 10W30 from NAPA in South Plainfield. I paid $8.59 a qt. and the total came to $55.15 with tax, so its going to cost me $5.15 for this oil. For the price it is going for, I have to assume that it must be a really high quality product made for performance cars.

sweetbmxrider 05-18-2011 06:03 PM

I'm interested in how the rebate goes, post up what they do please.

He means how long and what type of monetary form they will send you.

"Please allow eight weeks to receive your rebate check"

Looks like a check, so, not bad.

If it is anything like other rebates, you have to mail in the UPC from the box and a copy of your reciept, and then you get a check in 6-8 weeks. I forget the statistics but rebates end up being a great deal for the company as most people buy the product and never getting around to mailing the rebate in.

edpontiac91 05-18-2011 07:16 PM

$50.00 I will NOT forget.

You are just like me.

Autometer ran big rebates on tachs last year. I did not forget then, either.

jts98z28 05-18-2011 07:48 PM

i looked on the link today and i see a red box that says click here to save $15 on a case? didnt see anything about saving $50

Jersyboyy 05-19-2011 06:23 AM

I printed off two with different emails and address for myself, i got a case (which is of 6) for 58 bucks. This oil has been out for awhile and always had good reviews from guys who use it. It has the highest amount of zinc in any off shelf oil for flat tappet cam guys like my self and most people agree high zinc is crucial during break in but recommened for the lifetime of the motor.
I threw additives in rotella t when I first started my motor and im still scared cam lobes may have been stripped
