Tint....

On the SS Buick i plan on doing 5% on the back glass and either 35 or 20 on the sides, what do you guys suggest and/or have on the side windows of your cars?.... also, what companies have the best reputation for film quality, lifetime, etc... i plan on installing it myself at my bro's shop

I do 5 on the back and the windshield strip and either 15 or 5 on the sides. 15 is definitely easier to see out of but 5 just looks good  3M seems to be real good stuff but I would just go to a local tint shop that has a good reputation and buy from them.

Huber Optik is really good stuff from what I hear. 5% is very dark but with some good reverse lights and the windows down, you can see what you are doing. Normally my top is down in the Bird so its no big deal.

I have 15 on the sides of my camaro. Makes driving at night difficult. I wouldn't go more than 20 and even that could get annoying. I'm ripping mine off soon.

I have 20% on my rear hatch and at night you can still see quite well and I never have to adjust the rear view mirror for cars behind me with their high beams on.

On the sides I have 35% which I consider just about right as it allows decent vision and it doesn't feel like I'am in inside a black coffin, plus anything much darker would be a cop magnet for darkness.

Any major brand should be good such as 3M, but unless you have done the install before, I would let someone who will do the job right and guarantee it to be free of bubbles and offer a limited warranty.

+1 for edpontiac91.

I had 20% all around and on the side windows it is to dark for backing up or night time driving.

Left the rear at 20% and got 35% on the sides, looked killer made driving much better.

I have 5% all around and wouldn't recommend it for a DD as it's a huge cop magnet. A little hard to see out of but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Keeps the cabin amazingly cool, the car never gets above 70 now, impressive for a triple black car.

5% all around with a Black Hardtop car. i got HID heads/fogs so visability at night isnt a problem. i love it.

I went 35% all around on my G, and am happy with it. 35% is about equal to what the factory tint is on my wife's Liberty and my old Cherokee. My eyes are not that great so I wasn't about to compromise night-time driving by going too dark on the windows.

I don't have an f-body but I have 5% all around, 50% whole windshield, debating keeping the 5% strip at top or not considering its all tinted anyway:

FoodStampsz 06-12-2011 09:22 PM

It's not bad, my friend has 35% on his and that's a little too much for my taste on a front windshield. lol
