HELP please

Ok, as most of you know i have a fox body and a firebird. the firdbird is being sold and the fox cannot be a daily driver. the mustang is to much to daily drive at 6 mpg and everytime i beat on it i break something. i'm still working the kinks out of it after the engine swap and supercharger nothing is easy. i'm currently going through dealer after dealer trying to find a 2012 mustang on the lot with the options i want. sofar 13 dealerships have nothing close. my neighbor runs dumphy ford in philly and is telling me 6-8 weeks for it to be built or longer. i'm dieing trying to hold out that long. i'm starting to think i should go for a corvette. maybe around an 08. what do you guys think i should do. i'm so torn on what to do and i don't know to much about corvettes. thanks guys.

You know, I usually associate "HELP please" with a cry of distress. Can I have your problem?

I'd personally get the 'Vette. However if think you might spend a few weeks looking for the right one, it may be worth it to wait the 6 weeks, as it seems 1) your TA might be gone soon & you don't really have a DD and 2) your first choice is the mustang.

really. must be nice being 18 and having such a problem

I havent drove the f-body in 4 weeks, i really do love the gt-500 and its what i want. but it seems like its no where to be found and it may not be the right choice. I've always liked the corvettes. i figured the forum would know so and would be able to help me out. since after all i am 18 and don't know a whole lot compared to some of you.

Why DD a vette? Your going to hate youself in the winter

Blackbirdws6 06-10-2011 04:35 AM

The vette will be the better car in my opinion and it can be driven in the winter like anything else. If you can afford to not drive anywhere when the weather gets real bad (snow), then this works. Worst case with either car is you buy a wheel/tire package that you throw on during the winter.

I'm not sure what options you are trying to get for the Mustang but they must be very unique considering they make a good number of them. If you have the coin, keep the search going and maybe a dealer can find one somewhere. It will cost you if they have to go real far to find it but you will get the car you want.

Money will fix a lot of your problems so you have quite a few options if you have.

redsoxsstink 06-10-2011 06:28 AM

yea a dd driver vette doesnt seem that practical. you can manage in the snow, but even a mustang or camaro would fair better in the snow. bc of clearnance issues and potholes in nj id imagine you would be going through front bumpers and valances every year on the vette. also the vette is a 2 seater, you only have one friend? yes the back is isnt great in pony cars but they can fit people if needed. the only advantage to the vette is the better gas millage and raw performance.

if i were you id go to the dealer and drive the stangs find, one thats close to the options you want and buy it. lets face it are ya really gonna know that it doesnt have that stupid led light crap option when you are dragging it? orrr if that really matter to you then wait the 6 weeks and get the car you wanted, you will thank yourself and you would have one totally unique stang. theres nothing wrong with a stang they are sharp cars good luck with finding one.

How does one go from being forced to drive a V6 due to "parental" oversight, to looking to buy 80k cars?

mind = blown.

sweetbmxrider 06-10-2011 07:00 AM

Buy the car you want. Suck it up and wait a month and a half.

this is the correct answer. too much money to settle.

good deal on the job. my advice not to buy such an expensive car at your age seeing you are using your own money. you can buy a pretty bad ass used car for a lot less, not get killed with the immediate deprecation, as well as possibly higher insurance, and save some money for other cool stuff. hell you could have a really nice car and a beater for well under the cost of a new car.

Anti_Rice_Guy 06-10-2011 08:53 AM

As someone who similarly stashed enough to buy a new car in his savings account, I second what Bonzo said. Since you already have the fox, just put some money into that and buy a nice used DD, keeping the rest of the money in savings for a down payment on a house.

[edit]I know exactly how you feel about having the money and wanting a certain car, but sometimes financial wisdom prevails. There will still be those cars in 10 years when you have your house.

i know what you guys are saying but i just dont want this problem with a used car. i've already put over 20k into this mustang not including what i payed for it. i already need to replace the engine in the fox again. 700 miles on the engine in my fox and its already hurting. 10lbs of boost is to much. i just think if i get a new car i can take my time on the fox and build it right. i sometimes scramble to get it going so i can go somewhere i need to if i cant take my moms truck.

just because i was limited to a v6 doesnt mean i cant get something 2 years later. thats why i built the fox so i can **** on the people who made fun of me for owning a v6. my plans should make that run atleast 8s in a couple months.

BonzoHansen 06-10-2011 09:34 AM

sweetbmxrider 06-10-2011 10:00 AM

Going fast = money going faster

8 second car on the street = bad stuffs

If I could do it all over again, I would have went for a house down payment instead. Its your money though, do what you want and post pics/vids :)

Used performance car is very different than a used DD car, especially when it's heavily modified. They may not always be perfect but that's not a good comparison.
