Video's & Photos: Ryan Dunn Fatal Crash Scene in West Chester

As you all most likely know, Ryan Dunn was killed early this morning when the Porsche GT3 he was in crashed at a high rate of speed and caught fire. News story here:
http://www.cnn.com/2011/SHOWBIZ/cele...html?hpt=hp_t2

I stopped by the scene today as it's only a minute from my work. Real sad to see:

Here is the YouTube video compilation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQGzr78Ok9M

Here's a photo (the rest are in the video at the end):

My interactions with Ryan were all positive which is less than can be said of the other "******* crew". He was a good dude. Sad to see this happen. RIP.

There isn't a whole lot of car to being with on a GT3, think space age frame with a roll cage & a motor.

maroman88 06-20-2011 09:04 PM

lookin at the skid marks... was he trying to exit at like a buck twenty!

sweetbmxrider 06-20-2011 09:17 PM

Sucks, he was a good dude.

Frosty 06-20-2011 09:18 PM

It sucks such a nice car was wasted. As for the mushy stuff...I feel bad for this family and his passenger's family...other than that...oh well. If you decide to speed while driving drunk it just proves that Darwin guy might be right about some things...

i wasnt guna be the guy to drop that name!!

TaKid455 06-20-2011 09:48 PM

skid marks look a bit thin for a 911. Perhaps car went into a sideways slide.

High speed, late turn-in will do that.

GhostDakota 06-20-2011 10:01 PM

PLENTY of deer along that road so he could have been swerving to avoid one. Also, at that exit, there is a Wawa approx 1 mile up the road and leaving the bars at 2:30am Wawa is always a good stop. The bar owner did mention that he did not look drunk when he left.

greenformula92 06-21-2011 08:32 AM

that is sad....but let it be a lesson to drinking and driving, regardless of what the bartender said....theres a lawsuit against tiffany's about something similar happening here and the bartender said that guy didn't appear drunk either

Slow-V6 06-21-2011 11:21 AM

Drinking and driving in a fast car!! Lets all make a memorial at the sight were this drunk driver lost control of his car and died. He was a good person?? Really? Dont you have to respect human life to be a good person? If this were a regular person that did this he would be a dick for driving drunk..

sweetbmxrider 06-21-2011 11:23 AM

How do you know he was drunk driving?

88WS-6 06-21-2011 11:24 AM

That's sad no matter what really happened. I went to college with his brother. RIP

Your right my bad. Saw the news last night and all the tweets he put out about how much partying he was doing that night before the crash and kinda thought Party, Bar, Drinking, Driving.. Who knows.. He reportadly had at least 6 drinks!! Bartender said he didnt look drunk which to me means he had drinks but was still LOOKED okay to drive or he was covering for a high profile star who got killed just after he left His bar?

All I know is that he was either

A. Drunk driving and lost conrol of his car going over 120mph
B. had more then 6 drinks which impared his driving and lost control of his car going over 120mph
C. was sober and lost control of his car doing 120+ around a exit
D. was sober and lost control of his car doing 120+ while trying to not hit a deer on a road that apparently is very known for having deer..

And he also had a passenger in the car as well That they just were able to ID and Hr ago from what I was reading!! Maybe Ryan was the DD!! Dunn was also arrested back in 2005 for a DUI when he crashed his car in whitehall Township!! He completed a DUI program for 1st time non violent offenders back in 2005 that upon completion of that program it got the DUI off his personal record!!

People can assume all they want but its still an assumption. Also, memorializing someone who died doesn't mean you are memorializing the way they died.

So he lost control of his car at a high speed and both Dunn ( the driver ) and his passenger were killed. If Dunn survived and his passenger still died Dunn would have got charged Manslaughter or worse.. Doesnt really sound like a Good person to me or a person that I would want to memorialize. Call me crazy..

sweetbmxrider 06-21-2011 12:09 PM

True but again, you are basing his entire life on one event which is shallow in every sense of the word. People do stupid things every day, but we don't cast stones at them?

btownws6 06-21-2011 12:18 PM

i agree with adam basing your views on a person that died in a way you dont agree with doesnt make him a bad person. i'm pretty sure you have done something stupid or frowned upon by others at least once in your life. Doesnt make him a bad person we all mess up we are human. If you didn know the person personally dont criticize them. He had a persona to hold up to no matter how stupid he was or what he said thats the "famous" character he portrayed so he could have been sober for all you know and just tweeting that he was drunk bc thats how he is "supposed" to act to his drunken fans. you werent there no one on here so R.I.P. Ryan Dunn

I guess I dont get it. If this were a normal person who did this what would the response be? Instead you have a high profile person who has been busted in the past for a Dui when he crashed his car back then who took a class and basically said he learned his lesson. 6 yrs later he posted pics of him with 2 of his friends drinking and having at least 6 drinks before he drives his GT3 down a road known for having deer on it with a passenger in his car at very high rates of speed.. He obviously did not learn his lesson about Drinking and driving and it cost him and another person there life!! Was this a mistake?? I would say the 1st time when he crashed his car drinking and driving yes but the 2nd time when there were 2 fatalities?

This is a truly sad story. Not because they died but because this could have been avoided if they would have just called a cab. I mean the guy went though this **** before and went through the DUI classes and apparently he didnt learn nothing or just didnt care enough to learn anything.

And dont forget R.I.P Zachary Hartwell. He to was killed and was the Passenger in Ryans Car... He wasnt nearly as famous so who cares right?? Its sad that the Persona that Ryan had to hold up cost another persons life!!

My views are you should not drink and drive and you should not drive a supercar at highspeeds while you are drinking and driving!!

I have done stupid **** when I was Younger!! I learned and dont due stupid **** anymore or try not to do stupid **** anymore!

Again no one is memorializing the event that happened Monday morning or justifying the deaths. Its simply a way to say good bye to someone. There are pictures of me with a drink in my hand next to friends in a bar and I sure as hell wasn't drunk.

And you are still alive.. How many DUI's do you have if you dont mind me asking? People said he is a Good person. I just asked shouldnt a good person respect human life? If a guy got busted for DD in the past 5 years Then why Risk peoples lives again? Why post pics of you drinking on Twitter and then Drive afterwards when you have been down that path before and know all the risks that are associated with it? He was 34 yrs old.. He wasnt in his early 20's or what not.

I had a buddie while in the Navy that crashed and was killed while drinking and driving. He to was a repeat offender. Had 2 previous DUI charges against him. He was a friend and a good worker. Was he a good person? I thought he was but the only thing He is remember for was getting into 3 DUI incidents were he was finnally killed in the last one. Thank God no one was hurt or killed other then himself. Does that sound like a good person? To me it doesnt. I asked him why not just call me up and I can pick u up from the bar. His response was he didnt care about what would happen. he just wanted to have a good time! This was after 2 DUI's!!

Being in the Military for 9 yrs they preach to you that DUI is terrible. Its a guttless thing to do and there is no excuse. Thats probably why I have such a negative outlook on it.

WildBillyT 06-21-2011 12:50 PM

So if you are a smoker and die of cancer, do we say **** YOU, you brought it on yourself at the funeral?

He's dead, probably because he was being irresponsible. Being irresponsible was how he made his living. He also made people happy doing so. I used to live within walking distance of the accident site so it is possible to say he was trying to avoid a deer, however that seems unlikely to me due to the rate of speed required to go flying into the trees and catch fire.

It sure looks like he killed himself out of being stupid but that doesn't change the fact that he was a well liked guy by a lot of people who will miss him. I had a friend who died in a 1 car DUI crash. Sucked hard but that's the risk that some people take.

You are comparing smoking cigs to Drinking and Driving? I read lots of threads on here were people bash on DUI's saying its stupid, People are idiots, Blah blah. But when a Movie star does it and dies its not as bad?? I liked him and Jackass but He had a opportunity to change his life after his 1st DUI bust and he didnt. Thats stupid. Risking peoples lives just because you have a Rep to hold up is stupid.. Are these traits of a good person?
