Goodbye jeff carter!

take your giant contract, horrible play and dont let the door hit you on the way out. Enjoy Colombus!

Frosty 06-23-2011 03:11 PM

We're getting a decent player in Voracek too, this was strictly a money move. Rumor has it Versteeg is being shopped, maybe to Florida. Bryzgolov will be signed, maybe they can resign Leino. Either why the Flyers are making sure what happened this season doesn't happen again.

Hopefully this will work out.. Still dont really have any faith in the Flyers.

band77one 06-23-2011 03:26 PM

apparently richards is gone to LA for simmonds, Schenn and a 2nd round pick

band77one 06-23-2011 03:28 PM

trading carter i doubt was a striclty money move, he got a huge contract and turned into a lazy sack of excriment. richards did sort of the same thing, but richards had streaks of games where he was there, and then longer streaks of games where he seemed totally invisible. idk this might be what the team needs.

Blacdout96 06-23-2011 03:30 PM

This is exactly why I don't buy player specific jersey's lol. What a bunch of player shifting, but my main concern is goalie and goalie only trading. the year we lost the cup, I felt we relied too much on our goalie's, this year we stepped it up and they were the ones failing, especially at the end of the year, I knew it would trail into the playoffs....

Slow-V6 06-23-2011 03:32 PM

So they traded Richards as well?? So no Carter and Richards are both gone. I dont know about that one.. I am no hockey expert but I guess getting more Draft picks and shedding salary was the main reason?

Frosty 06-23-2011 04:01 PM

Richie gone, horrible trade but rumor has it that him and Lavvy didn't get along. I like the Carter trade, not the Richie trade.

TSN is saying Bryzgolov is getting 9yrs/51 million, yes I said NINE years.

Blacdout96 06-23-2011 04:10 PM

Hm, how come I have this Chris Gratton feeling about that one....

Slow-V6 06-23-2011 04:22 PM

9 Yrs!!!! They just give up on the Bob being there future goalie??

band77one 06-23-2011 05:51 PM

they didnt give up on bob but he cant be thrust into the nhl full time with boucher as a backup, he'll become like niittymaki and checkmanek. bryzgalov is a good goaltender and will be able to help bobs especially since with them there is no language barrier. After lookin up the players we aquired for the players we lost, i think we got the better end of both deals, we got good picks, good players, and i think the offense is gonna tear up some of these teams this season. im officially stoked for flyers hockey right now. i just hope we get rid of carcillo and fartnell

Frosty 06-23-2011 05:58 PM

Schenn is unproven. He has upside but so did Juri Dopita, Chris Gratton and Alexander Daigle, just saying. Simmonds is GARBAGE.

I like Voracek...I don't mind the Carter trade. I HATE the Richards trade. This was such a horrible move.

Bob is as good as gone, you don't take your "goalie of the future" and tell him to step aside while you sign another goalie to a 9 year deal, he's gone. He'll be trade bait this upcoming year, there's no reason to keep him. You can't expect him to sit around for 5+yrs.

The only big upside is the cap room to sign other players...but we'll see...as of right now, today, 6/23/2011 they're NOT a better team after these trades.

band77one 06-23-2011 07:00 PM

how do you say bob is as good as gone? boucher is done, bob will back up bryzgalov for what a season? maybe 2? then you'll see the transition of bob making starter, bringing in a backup cause bryzgalov wont wanna be a back up. it was smart getting bryzgalov because he knows what its like to be back up goalie, he backed up anaheim + JS giguere to the cup. plus hes russian and will finally be able to really communicate to bobs

Frosty 06-23-2011 07:18 PM

You don't sign a goalie to a 9yr/51 million dollar contract to make him the backup or trade him in 2yrs...Bob makes 1.75 million next year, a lot for a back up. He's done, mark my words.

WayFast84 06-23-2011 07:57 PM

All I'm going to say is I hope Bryz isn't the next Dipietro....

Thats what I was thinking.. Giving up on a Goalie after his 1st season.. If they signed this new goalie to a 3yr deal then that would make better sense. Bob could learn and in a couple years hopefully be ready to take the job if not you could resign the other goalie..

I don't think he will. I mean it's certainly possible but Bryz is better than good 'ol Rick in every possible way lol.

Bryz is a stud in the regular season, unfortunately he's had less than stellar playoff performances which REALLY worries me. The Flyers needed a goalie, that was obvious but the broke up two major pieces of their core to do it...it's shocking. It frees up a ton of cap space so we'll see what happens come July 1st.

So kinda like Jeff Carter.. Has a great regular season then doesnt really do much in playoffs!!

Frosty 06-24-2011 05:16 AM

Pretty much lol

WayFast84 06-24-2011 05:31 AM

I don't think bryz is that good of. Goalie but I also think Thomas is just really lucky and have been ripped for saying Luongo was flakey.. I think dipietro is better then all of them and has a dark cloud over his head....

Frosty 06-24-2011 05:45 AM

I hope you're kidding. DiPietro isn't that good, obviously he's on a garbage team/organization but he's not that solid. I mean I like him for the face we both goalie the same way(well, when I could still play lol), both wear the catching glove on the right hand.

But overall, eh...he's average.

JL8Jeff 06-24-2011 07:04 AM

No matter who the Flyers put in goal seems to fall apart or turn into a headcase. But they needed to change something in the lineup.

Blacdout96 06-24-2011 07:30 AM

We were passing well, I'm glad to see that, instead of dumping and chasing. To me that tells me we had the ingrediants going right with the team, we just need to get the right amount of each ingrediant. A goalie is what we needed most, and I;m sorry, but the Richards trade is redunckulously stupid to of pulled. Sometimes you don't need an all- star out there for a captain, you just need one that can communicate.

I still don't understand how the Flyers bottom fell out at the end there, I can only speculate they were burned out from pushing to the top in the beginnning and middle of the season.

Slow-V6 06-24-2011 08:20 AM

Any word on who the Flyers are looking at with there 8th overall pick??

No real word yet, even though they wanted a 1st round pick I wouldn't be surprised if they packaged that up with someone/something else for another Dman.
