your opinion on rims im going to paint

i recently bought a new set of rims for my camaro, i plan to dismount the tires off my old ones and paint them. im going to invest in some winter tires because my camaro gets driven year round..mount those on the painted ones and be set for the winter, so they are rims that will only be on the car for 4/5 months. i have a few different options i'd like to take but let me get some of njfboa's opinions.

we are dealing with the stock snowflakes, and its my first time painting but reading up it doesnt seem too difficult..the job will be rattlecanned.

this is the car we are dealing with

http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q...o/IMG_1654.jpg

can go straight with black

http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q...2217307016.jpg

all out gunmetal or gunmetal with the stock lip untouched

http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q...o/Pic_1126.jpg

kind ricer approaches to follow, (flamesuit on) black with a red lip. picture photoshopped from tech

http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q...jo/2ry3knc.jpg

i always had a thing for gold rims too, but not quite sure how it would look on an f body, i see it on STI's..cant find pics of OEM gold rims on a 4th gen camaro

http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q...o/goldrims.jpg

or i'd like to go with black with a gold lip, but also cant find any good pictures.

any input would be cool good or bad...asked an honest question wouldnt mind honest replies. thanks for the help in advance

Jon

Keep them stock or just black...

WildBillyT 07-18-2011 08:43 PM

Stock or gold

BonzoHansen 07-18-2011 08:46 PM

KirkEvil 07-18-2011 08:46 PM

Corvette magnesium wheels were "goldish"

I like the gunmetal/silver. Might look good with the lip untouched.

You should google Plasti-dip, pretty cool stuff.

Edit: Via WBT 10th anniversary hurts t/a's

i was leaning toward to gunmetal / silver. plasti dip is a rubber coating? or a paint...kind of dont grasp the concept from reading it lmao

Gracias, but it's a 10th annivarsary Firehawk, not Hurst T/A.

sweetbmxrider 07-18-2011 09:43 PM

Damn it.

Its more of a rubber coating. Dries flat and peels off when you are done.

This ^^^

WildBillyT 07-19-2011 09:55 AM

No offense to Madness, but snowflakes on a V6 Camaro ain't no Z06 rims on a C6 Z06 with huge rotors and red calipers.

madness410 07-19-2011 10:32 AM

hahah none taken...i thought he was just offering up a color combo.

maroman88 07-19-2011 10:48 AM

I understand this. But I was trying to underscore that the color combo might not work as well a different setup.

i say go w. the black and red.

WayFast84 07-20-2011 02:58 PM

I did duplicolor's gunmetal wheel paint and it was pretty nice. High gloss black would be nice as well.

DaSkinnyGuy 07-20-2011 03:24 PM

I cant find it at the moment but on ls1tech there is a photo taken at nighttime of a black camaro with black snowflakes from the passenger side doing a burnout and it looks really well done possible satin black.

qwikz28 07-20-2011 03:31 PM

Please let the time-attack style die out. Go with stock or paint them all black.
