Upgrading studs to ARP
What is the correct part number for 3 inch ARP studs for my moser 9 inch?
What about for the fronts? 601-1422 is the correct shanks for my greg weld fronts and prostar rears? |

Well they came with a set of shanks and they just had the regular centered washer. I just want to replace them since they are a little beat up.

Awesome thanks. That is the correct knurl at .509? I think moser had their pos ones listed at .503 or .506, I'm sure those few thousandths are negligible though.

I thought one of my stock studs was spun in the back but I got lucky. All are in and they don't even look bad with the zo6's. |
Thats cool bro, any pics of the Z06 rims and studs?

So anyone have a good recommendation for quality studs that are not 3' long and not gold? I'm looking into a few dedicated drag wheel/tire setups and looking for potentially the best of both worlds when running those vs. street stuff.
Would I be correct in assuming that with any longer stud, you will likely not be running an enclosed lug. Do I need to know what drag wheels I will be running to choose the proper hardware? |
Shank fitment will vary with the rims, yes. Go with McGaurds (first weld rodeo) shanks. There are a couple other studs available. ARP has 2.5" and 3.25". There are definitely closed end lugs that will fit the 2.5" pending how much is sticking out of the rim. You could probably sneak the stock style lugs with plastic caps over them.

m12 x 1.50 is stock. You should be ok with the shorter ones, not perfect but ok.

make them out of cherry stems

These are the screw in studs kirk has, I don't see screw in studs for 12mm x 1.5" Check to see what you have in your rear now. The fronts are press in though, link is above. |
just get the long arp gold studs. They will be legal, wont rust, and proven to work. mine are long but dont look bad and the ends are rounded so it doesnt look like a cheap threaded rod. I guarentee you will never want to change screw in studs again after getting those bent ones out.
