Methods for removing water spotso n winshield/glass?
Im not sure what I want to try. I already tried mag/wire wheel paste with a newspaper, and that did nothing, I need something a little more harsh, but I'm not ready to use battery acid just yet. Has anybody tried like CLR or something? what was your results? thanks

I've used Invisible glass works great.

When I had my own detailing business, I used a product called Spray Clay. It is made by the Diamondite company which has a complete glass cleaning line to include the Spray Clay (you apply it to the glass and then rub it in with a rough plastic sponge supplied), a Glass and Surface Cleaner and a Rain-X type product.
Their toll free number is 1-800-426-1380. I had very good results with removing acid rain spots from glass, when normal window cleaner would not do the job. The Spray Clay is a natural Kaolin clay formulation dispensed through an aerosol can. The can says it removes Acid Rain spots/ Hard Water Spots/ Paint Overspray and Industrial Fallout from glass and paint. |
I might try that. I had a guy who manages a glass company recommend fine steel wool with alcohol. Have yet to try it.

ive used 00 type steel wool on glass and has worked wonders. im sure adding alcohol or lacquer thinner would make it work better to

Either of these should work fine... ive used both. I also wouldnt try the steel wool... I doubt it will but if you somehow leave scratches in the glass unless they are very very fine... they will not come out.
http://www.autogeek.net/diamondite-glasswork-kit.html (they also have one for machine application if you have a DA) http://www.autogeek.net/griots-glass-polish.html (I've always used it with a buffer but it should work fine by hand with some elbow grease) |
My friend has a few scratches in his windshield and was asking me what to use. I looked around online and found a lot about Cerium Oxide. It is used to polish glass, mirrors (telescopes) and stones.
He said he wanted to try it but I don't think he ordered it yet. If he does buy it I will post up with the results. Found it on Amazon, everything from an 8oz bottle to a 525lb drum |
