So, since exact change is photo enforcing now, Ive gotten 17 of these. Fighting everyone of them. I always pay the toll, but I fly through them via a change filled fastball. I even took notes of days that I put the change in and left toll before screen said paid, and still got tickets on those days. total bullchet!!!

I hate EZ Pass. These people should not have as much power as they do. They have the power to ruin any individual financially if they really want to, and it's their word against yours.

I read through some of those, but none of them are "ruining you financially". I have had EzPass for around 8 years? and I have never had ANY problems like that and recently I had a -$50 credit on my account. The card I had setup for auto-pay on the account was over the credit limit and I didnt know right away. I went in to my account a few weeks later since the booths kept telling me Call EzPass. I had about 10 or 12 tolls that were charged to my account, that I actually used, and they could not bill me for them. There were no extra fees or any extra account charges.

Stick with your credit card and you wont have any problems with being "financially ruined" :rollseye:

You know, I would have believed you a couple of months ago, until I was fined by EZ Pass NY for a toll plaza I never went through. The truck was actually in pieces at the time. It starts off as a $25 fine for something you never did. It was sent to me with no picture, so how am I to know what they have on record aside from my plate #. A number of things could happen in the process of trying to plead not guilty of something you didn't do. How do you prove you weren't there? When EZ Pass doesn't get their money on time, they send your information to a collections agency and tag on more fines. A $25 mistake can turn into $1000+ in a hurry if you try to take it to court, which in one of the most expensive states to live in is painful. It's not much different from the controversy of red light cameras being installed around the state as revenue-generators.

I've had ezpass since the late 90's when I worked in NY and never had a problem with them since the get go.

I was told a few years ago that I was never allowed to have EZ Pass again, and I have tried to sign up for it twice since then and been denied.

I thought my EZPass was linked to my debit card, but it was actually linked to a credit card that I had canceled, so they were obviously unable to replenish the account. Not long after taking a trip to the Outer Banks and back I got a stack of violations in the mail from various states. When I called to see if the EZPass hadn't registered (I figured the tag was broken), they informed me that my account was drained, closed, and sent to collections several months prior (of course, this was the first time I had heard this news). I had to pay a few hundred dollars in tolls / fees / fines to clear that up, and then pay over $40 for each of the two tags I had. When I questioned that fee, they said it was charged to everyone because they assume that if EZ Pass closes your account that you won't bother to return them. I had to go buy a padded envelope and pay to ship the tags back to EZ Pass, and ~4wks later I got a refund check for the ~$85 I paid for the tags.

My EZ Pass broke on a trip to OC, MD. They sent me like 10 fines in the mail, i showed them proof... after much haggling with them because they swore they were right. They finally made it right though.

Do you guys not have your plates listed on your ez pass account? when the pass fails they take a pic then run it through the computer and assess accordingly.

LTb1ow 12-14-2011 08:09 AM

What can actually happen if you just refuse to pay the fine?

They send it to a collection agency. It messes up your credit. You become bankrupt and destitute, living in a van down by the river!

sweetbmxrider 12-14-2011 08:56 AM

They take your **** and ruin your credit. U aware?

Same exact thing happened to me this past september. I lost my wallet so I cancelled my cards and my ez pass was linked to my debit card. My account was over drawn by $12 apparently for months and it went to collections for $12 and a fine for $25 to cancel my tag that was on my windshield. I called, i emailed and everytime I was told I had to call the collection agency. I told them I had the tag and would send it back and apparently I couldnt do that even.

I havent tried to sign back up but it would make my life much easier seeing as I live in Jersey and work in Philadelphia.

so now I take Patco over the bridge just so I dont pay the toll directly
