Yup, the last couple of fill ups have dropped big time.

Same here - my G has dropped about 1-2 mpg since they switched to that oxygenated crap.

LTb1ow 12-18-2011 01:03 PM

honda civic gets 42mpg, and i got mo power, mo room, and i dont have to get worried about being a probe for large people

WayFast84 12-18-2011 04:12 PM

Went from 27 to 25 not bad??

qwikz28 12-18-2011 06:06 PM

I hate mpg piss fights simply because I don't believe most people really get the mileage they claim. As for me, I didn't record my last fill, but I usually average between 17-22mpg with the Saturn (recorded on my old ipod app) and the last fill got me less than 200 miles per tank which means about 16 or 17. I stopped recording fuel economy. I fill up every two or three days. It can get annoying.

BonzoHansen 12-18-2011 06:11 PM

I do the math on every tank. I always saw roughly a 10% drop in MPG with winter gas. and another 10% for snow tires.

shadowfire 12-18-2011 06:14 PM

i guess you fill up your pockets with money and then go ride

JL8Jeff 12-18-2011 06:14 PM

I record every drop of gas I put in my cars/trucks so I know my calcs are legit. But we all know that we will lose 2-3 mpg this time of year due to the gas formulation and cold air. I also don't make as many highway drives so that will hurt since I don't get to use overdrive.

Recording gas consumption doesn't save you money. I did it before and am well aware of how to drive conservatively. In the end of the day, I'm not the only person that drives my car, so it tells me very little. Come to think of it, on my last three fills, someone else drove my car a substantial amount each time.

BonzoHansen 12-18-2011 06:50 PM

i watch my mpg to see if it changes over time, a sudden drop will tell me soemthing is wrong.

qwikz28 12-18-2011 07:09 PM

meh. Still too much work for me.

BonzoHansen 12-18-2011 07:18 PM

i reset my trip odometer every tank full and just note the miles on the gas rcpt. I do that math later. i am finding in my new cruse the mpg dash calc is pretty close.

What are you averaging? I'm actually looking at online reviews of the Cruze, and it seems like people are getting varying economy with that car. 25 seems to be the standard though.

BonzoHansen 12-18-2011 07:31 PM

mixed driving, 75% hwy, I'm only seeing 29mpg or so. But it has creeped up each tank. Only have 1200 on it so far. But a bit of a let down considering my 02 olds intrigue, much larger with 3.5L OHC motor got 24 in the same driving.

i think power counts around town. I feel like I'm in the throttle more around town in this car.

qwikz28 12-18-2011 07:59 PM

29 is very respectable. It is still a big car that is built solid with safety features and creature comforts.

I signed up for fuelly to start tracking my fuel economy again. You guys made me feel guilty.

BonzoHansen 12-18-2011 08:00 PM

it's not a big car, 29 is not meeting my expectations.

qwikz28 12-18-2011 08:09 PM

It is classified as a midsize. It certainly isn't tiny. I'm sure it will improve by a few more mpgs. What are you hoping for?

BonzoHansen 12-18-2011 08:31 PM

30-32 mixed

qwikz28 12-18-2011 08:47 PM

You're almost there! Scott, you can't be sweating 1 or 2mpg on a car that new! It will come! :)

I'm pretty sure I said something about this in one of Al's piss fights. Luckily you are getting 29 and I'm getting 27 with the same motor in a similar car. How many gears does this thing have?
