Last year at the All Camaro Show at Bennett Chevy it cost $80 to put the car on the dyno.

I would like to attend, but in this economy, paying $30.00 is steep admission at the gate, plus with the rising cost of fuel, it makes it hard to go. Also Maple Shade is quite a trip for some of us, and with this being a Rain or Shine event, paying the $20.00 ahead of time does not make for a fun trip in the rain. Just my :2cents:

Ok, and then wait till day of.

This is not the normal hang in parking lot show.
You will get your money’s worth; first 50 get a t-shirt and dash plaque.
The entrance fees pay for the show.
We as a club drive all over the place. I drove 1.5 hours yesterday for a parade event in Riverside yesterday...........

Hope to see you there.

ok so if its not a normal hang in the parking lot show whats different about it? and 30 dollars for a car show is insane. even 20 bucks is pushing it these days.

I'm sorry if you feel the show is not within your budget. You may want to stick to the free cruises in your local area, they are typically free. Our club attended one last night in Williamstown.

There are also many members on this forum who attended last year’s show at Bennett Chevrolet I am sure they can comment on what type of show it was?
Our Spring Fling is all GM but the same type of show.

The entrance fee pays for the T-shirts, dash plaques, trophies and the show.

band77one 03-21-2012 09:48 AM

I never said anything about a budget so don't go makin it out like I'm poor. and woopity doo for your club good for them. you didn't answer the question about what makes this event not the typical parking lot hang out car show. and for 30 bucks everyone better be getting a trophy or something other than a cheap shirt that'll shrink and a cheap dash plaque. and don't presume to tell me what events I should stick to because I've gone to plenty of benefit car shows and large shows that didn't cost that much. I was merely pointing out for a car show it's a lot of money.

KevinW 03-21-2012 11:04 AM

I agree, I do not mind charity shows for that kinda coin, but it appears only the dealer and the club get the proceeds. As to the shirts and plaques, only the first 50 get them. that would pretty much mean the club members and the few people that took the chance to register early. The rest are SOL. :) Other freebie cruise nights with trophies have a trophy donation bucket or get trophy sponsers. Is that not the case here? My better half is kinda sick of the trophies hanging around the house now, I have not found a good place for them. I have been trying to find a way to re-use them too, but no luck so far. my .02 :D

This is simple. If you aren't going to go for any number of reasons. DONT POST. It's not for anyone not involved to make the rules or the prices.

Either pay, go, have fun, or don't. Either way, there is no point in arguing their setup.

Btw. This can be the warning post for this thread

Artful Dodger 03-21-2012 01:10 PM

CBRMIKE, Thank you for your understanding!

However, maybe I can shed a little light on the thread. The South Jersey Camaro Club is a non profit organization that is listed with the government as well as the state for tax purposes. We hold car shows that allows us to be able to provide donations to various worthy charities within the state. Last year was our very first time holding a car show and we were able to provide $4000 to a Veteran's home in NJ. We have a dealer that is willing to allow us to have the show on their lot for free, and the club members volunteer their time for the cause.

If you want to help out a worthy cause, then please come and have a good time knowing that you have made a difference! If not, don't come!

It's really up to you...

SOPMOD 03-21-2012 06:04 PM

Band77one: I am not going to get into a pissing match with you on here. By all means PM me if you want to discuss your issues further I will be more than happy to accommodate you any number of ways. Behind a PC screen will not be one of them.
Like it was said above, you don’t have to attend and if you don’t agree by all means spend your cash on another event. I did not say you were poor or even insinuate that you were. Don’t really care how much money you have or don’t have. I was just trying to answer your questions and help you out.

I think the Merchantville show gives trophies to all attendees; our Spring Fling Classic show will award top 25 and one best of show.

Dealer gets nothing and neither does the club!

All proceeds will go to a veteran’s charity at the end of the year.

Also: I would like to point out the first fifty shirts and dash plaques will go to the first fifty registrants.

Our club members are not counted as part of that fifty and our club members are not eligible for trophies. We are not putting a show on to give ourselves t-shirts and trophies, that was a ridiculous statement.

SOPMOD…OUT!

KevinW 03-21-2012 06:13 PM

That is great! I think placing that on the flyer would draw more interest. Luck on the show!

It was a cost of $80.00 for 3 pulls on the dyno.

Mike 03-23-2012 12:04 AM

ok, just to be clear, i was addressing BOTH sides of this conversation, i really do want all discussion of wether or not it is too much money to stop.

this thread can stay open for the addition of information about the ACTUAL show, not the financial aspects of it. or for people to discuss GOING to the show, or meeting up to go to the show, or to see pictures AFTER the show.

people it is this simple. it is a 30 dollar to enter car show, if you have a problem with attending a 30 dollar to enter car show, then by all means, that is your prerogative for any reason you may have. if you decide that you have NO interest whatsoever in attending a 30 dollar car show, then DONT POST IN THIS THREAD FOR ANY REASON.

if, on the other hand, you are planning on attending this 30 dollar car show, then enjoy yourself, meet other people, see other cars, take lots of pictures, post them all up, and again enjoy yourself. BUT do not post on here in response to any people saying they do not want to go to a 30 dollar car show.

i hate having to give the "single warning for this thread" twice. and honestly, i hate even having to moderate a thread for an event that has zero affiliation with the njfboa. if you have any further issues with this car show, PLEASE restrict it to pm or email. and keep the thread for the more positive side of the event.
