104 mph in a Jersey Speed Skiff

It sounds pretty healthy that's for sure! It's still funny looking at the motor in these boats backwards! Check out the scoop on top of the supercharger facing the driver.

im trying to figure out if he was giving a thumbs up or if he got knocked unconsious at 35 seconds.

WANT.

:drool::drool::drool:

I'm surprised he didn't want a copilot to balance out the weight a bit more - he needs all the help he can get.

It looks worse than it really is. That's just the way the Jersey Speed Skiffs ride but that boat is pretty much the extreme limit and the 2nd and 3rd pass he had it trimmed out pretty good.

This. Once you get used to it, it's awesome fun. I was copilot in the old G-22 and we knew the boat "liked to wiggle" but when we went out there for the hot laps, holy cow, that sucker was like a snake. Speed only made it 10x worse...so after going up to 4500 rpm for 3 seconds, we cruised around at ~30 mph trying different things for 2 laps, then called it quits. Having a boat dart side to side at 45 mph while the whole boat is hopping up and down is pretty wild :shock:

I can put an 800 horsepower engine in a shopping cart and do 100mph, doesn't make it fun or safe. That looks incredibly unstable and stupid. Sorry

Compared to what? In the 2nd and 3rd pass it's running pretty smooth. The first pass he's getting the cavitation plate adjusted and you can see it bounce, that's the way these boats ride. A flat bottom drag boat will do the same thing if it's not adjusted properly. Accidents happen in every form of racing and every sport so there's no difference compared to a downhill skier doing 100 mph on the slope.

these boats have been around since the 60's they are meant to handle like that, nothing about that is unsafe because thats how those boats perform. i have a jersey speed boat and my father and uncle have raced them for years and in the whole time they raced one person got injured because he was racing over his capability. so when people put an 800 hp motor in a 2,000 pound car and take it to the track is that not safe and is it stupid?
