Set Up Qs

Since ive smartend up and no longer want to DD on hoosiers, im looking to pick up a set or drag wheels to accually run at the track and not DD on. my car has the Eibach Pro Kit on it and the car(especc the front) sits really low. i was wondering if theres any known problems with a drag wheel combo and a car lowered as much as the pro kit drops it? and does anyone got pics?

The wheel doesn't really matter so much as the tire height when lowered.

This.

Lowered on small drag fronts is bad news on NJ roads. FWIW a lightweight front wheel can be a world of trouble if you hit a pothole.

i know that first hand from dailying my cars with skinnys, another big reason why im picking up a seperate set.

a 28" tire in the rear is way to big, a 28" in the front would deff help with the ride.

28" in the front is pretty big for the wheel well.

How low is your drop?

sweetbmxrider 02-21-2012 10:41 AM

26's, don't make your car look like crap.

BonzoHansen 02-21-2012 10:48 AM

if just for track use, looks matter why?

sweetbmxrider 02-21-2012 11:02 AM

Looks matter! I don't know why you would run 28's in the front and 26's in the rear or why it would matter going straight on a flat stretch of asphalt.

LS1ow 02-21-2012 11:09 AM

looks dont really matter so much at the track lol

but im not talking the drop off, i like the way it looks to much. the Drop is REALLY low, front wheels tires tuck a bit.

id have no problem running 26" in the front i think, im gunna see if one of my friends have 26" tires on there skinnys and see if i can barrow em for a lil bit to see

WildBillyT 02-21-2012 11:10 AM

Yeah, looks do matter at the track. Not a ton but it's nice to not look like Fred Sanford out there.

If you will be swapping the tires on at the track then run whatever you want. Weight transfer and traction may be an issue but that's common.

On the street just run 26" wheels all around.

i do have 26s for the street all around.

at the track im either going all drag wheel, or just skinnys and a Regular rim with slicks. and chances are half the time all be driving it to the track, but mostly island, so RT80 isnt a problem with road surface... but that entrance road to island sucks !

sweetbmxrider 02-21-2012 11:17 AM

I have 26inch front and rears as do kirk and smash.

Yeah, that's why my first post talks about the roads. I figured you'd be driving to the track on them as extra wheels don't fit in an fbod and that could suck.

Just run 26" wheels up front at the track too.

i have a set of prostars on skinnies, i have to check if they are 26 though but you can borrow them to see if they arwe what u want, we are close enough to lessen the drive for ya

Jersey Mike 02-21-2012 11:39 AM

I weighed my stock 16s with 245 tires on them at 42lbs a piece, if not more.
Wouldn't a decent skinny & tire only weigh about 21lbs?

Almost 50lbs of rotating weight off the front of the car. Might be worth it to swap to a set of Skinnies when going to the track...

I've seen his fleet. Too late.

LTb1ow 02-21-2012 11:48 AM

I would hesitiantly say you could borrow my set as long as its clear that if you paint them or anything similar, you will end up with the rims around your neck.
