WayFast84 03-06-2012 07:04 PM

Are these fwd? Heard they get great gas mileage.

91chevywt 03-06-2012 07:07 PM

Looks like a fun wagon! The little 2.3s are great engines. What kind of MPG does something like that get in real world driving?

redsoxsstink 03-06-2012 08:36 PM

nice station wagon. mazda 3's are sharp lookin cars

greenformula92 03-06-2012 08:52 PM

People ask me all the time why I didn't buy a WRX or an STI and my answer is very simple, I got WRX bang for used civic buck

maroman88 03-06-2012 11:14 PM

Yes FWD and they apparently suffer from massive torque steer. There are some people who have tried to make them AWD, but the Mazdaspeed 3 has won best FWD car from a bunch of places since it has come out. My brother almost bought one in 2009, but ended up getting a 2009 Subaru WRX wagon instead.

I hear ya there but my trans am got 18-20. Then I bought a motorcycle that got 50 but found out the hard way what happens when a 17 year old turns 10 ft in front of you......

Screw the STI and Evo, I love those little Mazdas. I talked my buddy into getting a current generation Mazda3 Sedan with the 2.5. He loves it and really his only complaint is bent wheels from living in Staten Island and driving through Brooklyn all the time.

I'm not sure if it's the same, but my Suzuki's motor is designed to fall straight down in a crash to keep the motor from going through the firewall. Might be similar in the Mazda?

I have to side with the Subarus. My brother's WRX ran 13.5 in the 1/4 stock and an STI is just icing on the cake. You can't even compare an STI to a Mazdaspeed 3. A WRX maybe...

Sure you can. There is more to a car than outright speed, and even then, the MS3 has plenty. Don't get my wrong, I love Subaru, but the Mazda can't be beat in quality, comfort, and cost. For a DD, that's important stuff. Less so for a fun weekend car, but I feel the Mazda is often overlooked when in reality, it is a blast to drive, even in non-turbo form.

I'd actually love to. I talked my buddy into getting a 09 Legacy after he sold his 340k mile Saturn. He loves it but his only complaint is road noise on the highway. I don't think he got a turbo car though, I think his is the NA 2.5.

Thats a complaint of mine too. The other one is crappy rear wheel bearings. But then I started modding and my exhaust drowns it out lol. Also the NA 2.5 is a loud engine. I do not know why. The interior of the Legacy has been compared to some BMW models and I strongly believe subaru modeled the legacy interior after a BMW model, cannot remember which one

Wheel bearings? I didn't know about that. He lives in Yonkers too so I'm sure he'll be experiencing that soon. But yeah, the interior is lovely, especially the seat bolstering. I love the intuitive dash the best. If you have time, look up the little easter eggs Subaru put into the car. Also, my buddy's older brother opened up a Subaru specific tuning shop in BK. If you are interested in getting some work done, PM me for the shop name. He does good work.

Sorry for the slight hijack. :jake:

yeah we definatly high jacked this. Yeah the wheel bearings are a known problem, Subaru actually extended the warrantee on them to 8 years 100k because they were were failing so much. oh and heres a BMW 5 series interior and a LGT Spec b. interior. this isn't the interior i habe but the shapes are all the same
