Good to hear! I meant what catback/muffler.

Depending on your headers/manifolds determines what y-pipe fits.
Come by and listen to my car, no cat on it with what I believe is a magnaflow muffler and shorties. Not terribly loud and not horribly annoying to drive. And for the record... glass packs sound like ass on just about everything. They killed my 84 TA's sound. Come to think of it, they didn't sound bad on my 1997 K1500... but that's the only exception. |

No ****. Well I would start with a catback then before a y pipe. I like the deep and mellow setups like magnaflow. Sounds good at WOT but isn't a cop magnet and the neighbors won't want to kill you too.

where could i find a decently priced on?
|
Try searching just the part number on ebay. Some people will sell under what the manufacturer allows but won't advertise it as magnaflow etc.

With stock manifolds the loudmouth1 sounds good if you want the loud old school muscle sound. I know have headers and a catted y, and it's loud and gets a little raspy around 3k rpms. I'm going to try swapping back to the LM2 bullet to see if the rasp decreases. If not, then I'm going with a Borla or Magnaflow bullet. Does anyone know how it would sound if I took out the bullet completely and went with just a straight pipe?

From the picture at least that looks like a Y-pipe to be used as a slip-fit for long tube headers, so it won't work for you.
years back Borla and MAC did make a Y-pipe with high flow cats that worked with the stock manifolds, but for the money you got only a slightly different sound and maybe 5HP gain, and for a few dollars more you could by a shorty headers set up that got you better sound and HP gaines. So as others already stated, look at a catback system first. My opinion: for the money the Hooker Catback is nice sounding, little deeper then stock at idle, and sounds nice in the upper PRMs and not exspensive. |

I found a flowmaster catback from an ls car for 150. What do u guys think sound and price wise?
|
Sound wise, it's OK. Price wise, it's good. Performance wise, it may be the worst aftermarket one out there.

had a flowmaster...it sounded/performed like ass...swapped to a magnaflow and love it. mellow and deep whilecruising..no drone like the flowmaster...not obnoxious or "look at me" type noise..(which I hate)
my setup is jet hot coated edelbrock shorties headers to the magnaflow and i wouldnt ever change it..its perfect for what i like. |
