Cant believe a stock suspension can pull this off

Went to the track yesterday and was pretty consistent. This was my best time.

I just cant believe the 130k old suspension and semi old street tires can pull that kinda 60'. I was amazed. Im def going to start doing some upgrades. prolly some lca's and better shocks, get it to hook better.

Most people underestimate what the old suspension can do.

OP posted the other day saying he has a 2500 stall.

z28camaro94 04-25-2012 09:57 AM

yea 2500 stall tci lock up

yea i had a buddy of mine take a video of the launch. It sags real bad as soon as you let off the brake. so im thinking at least a new set of good shocks will help that a lil. and once i get my datalogging and tuning software, i can make the adjustments to the tranny and prolly get down to a 12.99. the 2-3 shift takes too long and bounces off the limiter. so i wanna raise the line pressure and lower the shift point about 100 rpms

A shift kit will help with the shifts :)
Unless its past the point of correction. Do you have the stock gears in it?

Are the mod sin your sig and stall the only work done?

Paul Huryk 10-29-2012 10:20 AM

A buddy of mine had a 1989 L98 IROC with some bolt ons and a 100hp nitrous kit I installed. With a 100% stock suspension, stock drivetrain (no converter), and nitto drag radials it ran 1.69 60' and 13.0 at 105 consistently at the track. The car took off like a dragster and obviously crapped out after 330'...

One of our buddies vert 2002 camaro cut a 1.51 60ft cam only and 100 dry shot dead stock suspension and drag radials. Its not that uncommon

98tadriver 10-30-2012 12:27 PM

back when i had my z28. stock suspension, lid muffler delete, tune, DR & skinnies
with "factory slipper clutch" 12.34 @112mph 1.75 60'

I didnt want to say it but I'm only catback and intake running on 245 street tires .29 slower than that. (With all due respect)

The OP did mention "2-3 shift takes too long and bounces off the limiter"
So he could very well drop some more ET with those changes. Its been 6 months now. I wonder if it's any quicker
