thinking of selling..
 

i feel like i just bought the car but i wanna move into an ls, i was just excited to get rid of the v6 firebird i had i settled for the lt:facepalm: ive been looking around a for ws6, gto, and a couple vettes.. what do you think i could get for my car? should i maybe think of an engine swap?

Engine swap totally not worth it. By the time you get a motor, trans, k-member, steering rack and everything else needed to do stuff an LS1 into one of these cars you could have just sold yours and bought an LS1 fbody for the same price (if not cheaper).

The way I see it... it's pointless to sell your LT1 for an LS1 --- unless you are looking for a GTO or Vet instead of an f-body.
Let's say you got $4,000 for your car and went out and bought a clean LS1 for $8,500. With $4,500 you could make your LT1 walk a bolt on or at least sit by a bolt/on cam only LS1.

Yes an LS1 is better but I'm not sure it's worth twice the amount of money to gain 40 or so horses. Have some faith in your LT1, get heads/cam/injectors/tune.

I was leaning towards a gto. Whats everyones options on them?

GTO's are awesome to cruise around in, plenty of torque.. really comfy.. and the interior s**** all over an F-Body. Good value for what you get, they're kinda rare.. and the parts for some things may be a pain since it is a 3 year australian ran car.

Literally my exact thoughts.

GTO's are nice but the parts availability for.certain things aren't there. I agree with the above. Mod LT1 with the 4500. You can do a lot and make good power. You don't need a LS to make power.

changing your mind this much gets expensive fast. don't worry too much about chasing the other cars out there. there are always better, faster cars than yours. so get over it and enjoy what you have.

lol too true. I went from wanting heads/mild cam to fully forged bottom end, 150 shot, heads and turning 7,000 RPM. What I originally budgeted has already been spent on my transmission alone :facepalm:

Nothing at all wrong with the car.. just looking for something all around better and easy to work with.

I would go with a c5 personally.

But if you go into another fbody yeah you can upgrade the lt1 but I personally think working on an ls1 is alot easier, you loose the mpg upgrading an lt1 to get you to the point of the ls1, upgrade an ls1 and still get bitchin mpg, you can go into a manual car if you wanted to as well.

It does get boring keeping the same car for a long time IMO, that why I am always modifying my car to change it up enough to keep it.

But I'm biased. When i bought my camaro I wouldn't even consider a 98 or older

Yeah I was to after I sold my sixer but I stuck it out for something I really wanted. Sucks when all your thoughts are to in the air

listen to him. i got into this , im always putting more money into the ss it spends more time in the shop then on the road, for all the money i have put into it i could have bought a brand new vette. and he is right, i always see a "better car" or a "faster car" blah...

first the grass is not always greener on the other side, second you may one day want to put money out for a house or maybe you end up with kids...

keep what you have for now work it slowly ,, you might just be happier in the end:wink:

Blasphemy. Why build it more than once? I've been hoarding parts and building an entirely separate drive train so I can keep driving it on the road until my new drive train is ready.

LT1 is not that hard to work on. Is it as easy as LS1? absolutely not. the bottom line is it doesn't matter what anyone else is running because if the car makes you happy thats all that matters. It just seems more cost effective to upgrade what you have then to spend the same money and wind up with a stock LS1 car that you will end up modding. Look at me, I drive a 91 GTA 305 Tuned Port. Your V6 bird could probobly have beat me with the highway gears I am running but I love the car. Will I mod it? Well yeah I already have. Will I be as fast as a LT or LS car with the same mods absolutely not!! But I will still be happy

I finally drove my lt1 after months of driving a 4cyl 5spd wrangler. Sure as hell made me smile :D

Sell it and get an ls1, it is a very wise move. I always had lt1 cars then bought an ls1 and never look back. Also, ******** you'll have to spend 8k on an ls1, I once bought a beautiful ls1 z28 for 1800, another time a higher miles ws6 for 2500. You can get a base model ls1 trans am for 4500 or ls1 z28 for 3500-4000. For a finders fee I can find you a dozen of them very fast lol

may i ask where you find these cars? most ws6's or even ls1 camaros i have found are far more money... i am looking for WS6

If you look hard enough they are there. I found a family member a 2001 mint z28 with 110k on it for 3000. Maybe I should start a business finding people them? Lol

i wanted to start a business like that , your not the only one ... also i never find mint 1999-2002 ws6 trans am's,, mostly they are over 8500

I find some ws6 cars cheap, the one I got was very nice looking but had 190 plus on the clock, I paid 2500. I have seen others ith like 130k sell for around 4. There's good deals out there, just need to find the right person

This is all very confusing lol hard choice.. because i do like my lt car, but id fell a lot better having an ls and start modding from there..
