Very stupid computer problem
So after getting rid of a virus, on the deletion of it come to find out it screws up all the boot/run settings so it turns in to a boot loop... so i get a fresh copy of xp from our esteemed admin and install, everything went great, but now its telling me i have 2 copies of XP in one partition on my C drive, the new one and the screwed up old one, i thought i was just replacing the needed files, but i thought wrong... the problem im having is, now ALL my settings and files are stuck on the other xp install that doesnt work, the files are there, but when i try to access them thru the C drive it tells me the files are not accessible... so i tried to use the FAST wizard to bring them over it says "the location you specified does not contain stored information", but i can see every folder and file in there... any idea?

Can you slave it using another computer? And make sure your new account owns the folder and its contents.

WTF did you do Eric?
I have never seen Windows install a second copy of itself in the same partition. - Justin |

Billy, TBH i dont know what you mean by slave
and Justin, no clue, it rewrote the windows folder but didnt bring anything over and its inaccessible |
Go to control panel, system, Advanced tab then under startup and recovery click settings. Uncheck the box that says "time to display list of operating systems"
Not sure why but it has happend to me after doing a quick format with the windows XP installer. Edit: After rereading your post I think your problem is different than the problem I've had in the past. |

You need a bigger hammer.
Or drivers, whichever works. |
