Lost my only set of keys :(
What do I need to do. Call a locksmith or go to GM?
Locksmith is fine.
Call a locksmith, I used CLC in Cinnaminson when mine got stolen.
Lose door and ignition? Do you still have VATS? If so, they will need to go though and find the resistance value with a machine. I think its one of 26 options. |
GM. Give them the vin number and get proof of ownership and they might be able to make keys.
The key was chipped will I run into any problems w/ that?

A locksmith can program that. |
Thanks for all the help guys.
Dealer cut keys by the vin for my old 93 z28 no problem
Dealer would prob be cheaper than a locksmith. You should just bypass the vats too or tune it out. It probably is tuned out with your swap.

The theft deterrent module looks for the key resistor to then ground the theft deterrent relay for starter operation. The pcm does the enabling of the injectors via a signal from the tdm but this can be tuned out. Pcm4less did it on mine and I grounded my relay for starter operation. The TDM is part of the bcm in the 96-97 cars.

Dads a locksmith on the side. If you still need it just let me know
Locksmith is wayyyy expensive. When I lost my keys I called every locksmith within my area and all of them said minimum $60-70. I went to the dealership with proof of ownership and they cut me an ignition key and passenger key (GM keys that look identical) $26 for the pair.
