RIP: Local racer Mike Romeo lost in accident - Green 74 Camaro 8.50

Thoughts out to Mike's family. No report yet on his status other than bad.

I understand he is a regular at Etown, atco, and cecil, so that covers a lot of guys here too. Seems he runs 10.0 and 8.5 classes

Wonder what happened. I think Josh races against him IIRC.

WildBillyT 08-07-2012 12:57 PM

Wow. We saw that guy at Hooters last year. I took a pic of his car, which I think was for sale?

deadtrend1 08-07-2012 02:39 PM

Hes a awesome dude, from lansdale area in pa. He races in joshs class but went to 8.50 index this season i think.

mc73nova 08-07-2012 03:27 PM

2nd Gen in accident in PA

I have seen this car many times at the track and I'm sure some people on here know him. I am not the biggest prayer in the world but this man can use as many as we can give him. The most I know from other forums is that the injuries are serious but he is still fighting in the hospital.

Yup, I remember Josh talking about him. Bad situation!

deadtrend1 08-07-2012 06:50 PM

Jen drove through that intersection probably a few minutes before that accident took place too..

sweetbmxrider 08-07-2012 07:01 PM

That is a terrible t-bone. Car must have been doing 50mph. I wonder what happened? Hope he fully recovers.

bandit88 08-07-2012 07:32 PM

Get well soon Romeo!

He's such a sweetie. He's in my thoughts.

Tru2Chevy 08-07-2012 09:34 PM

Never met him, but he sounds like a good guy. Hope his recovery is swift.

I have known Mike for many years. While we may not have been friends at first (mostly because of my own attitude) we have become very close. He is one of the best racers I have ever known and an even better friend.. I knew how to drive but he taught me alot about how to win.. I am still in shock and really filled with anger more than anything else so I want to keep it simple.. I hope he has a speedy and full recovery. One more win for 115R!!!

BonzoHansen 08-08-2012 02:42 PM

chknhwk01 08-08-2012 02:49 PM

My heart goes out to his family

I knew Mike back in the day, when he was with BP speed shops like 25 years ago he was a great guy a tough competitor is hard to believe that we lost Mike not on the racetrack where he was known but making a U-turn and gets T-bone, I would kid a lot with Mike at the racetracks specially Cecil County telling him that I was going to beat him and we start laughing because he was always the champ.. It's hard to believe that we lost a great competitor and person and racer my heart Asaro with grief I hope you're in a Better Pl., Mike ROMEO... We will miss you yours truly Joe chicken hawk.. Amen brother

WayFast84 08-08-2012 02:58 PM

It's crazy how tight the car community is. Never new him but you can tell how much he affected people just by that thread on bullet. RIP.

S.J.SLEEPER 08-08-2012 04:49 PM

Great guy...and an even greater loss to the people around him. my sympathy goes out to all that know him & his family.
