Got into accident last night in the G8

We were leaving BJ's in Depford and driving down the normal lanes between parking spots. My daughters gymnastics class was getting over in a 1/2 hr so we had plenty of time to make it to pick her up since its 10 mins down the road. We get halfway down the parkinglot when to the left I see a Grandcaravan cutting through the parking spaces and about to hit us. I lay on the Horn ( which the G8's have a train like horn) and attempt to swerve out of the way but the cart return is to our right. The van plows right into our DS rear 1/4 panel right on the fender flare. She crushes the lip of the fender flare and scratches the heck out of the rim back there as well. Her vans bumper got smashed and her Passenger side headlight broke as well. Luckly She was only going 15 mph or so. She took full blame saying she doesnt usually cut through spots like that. She has Allstate and no I did not see or hear that dude in the comercials. Everyone was alright and we still were able to get to my daughters class in time to pick her up. Horrible night but it could have been worse. So glad my 6yr old wasnt in the car. She doesnt need to be in a accident that young..

Oh man, sorry to hear that! But she fessed up, so at least that's good.

Parking lot's are terrible especially at those types of places but the important thing is everyone is okay, and everyone will live another day.

Hope a report and everything was still taken. Sometimes people will still deny after they confess to you.

No report was taken. The local police dont come out for instances like that. We called them and thats what they said. We were on the phone with our insurance company and they told us what to do step by step.

Most dangerous driver in the world is a guy in a minivan...2nd most dangerous driver in the world is a woman in a minivan..3rd most dangerous driver in the world is ANYONE in a minivan..sorry to hear about your accident, but i wouldve went postal..hate minivans b/c it seems all drivers are oblivious to anything in front of them, rather all mental prowess is dedicated to the workings in the rear of the van it seems. Took pics of the accident, damage and how you were situated in the parking lot to show she was not in a traveling lane? Hope it works out for you.

Minivans are like velco sneakers, convenient but wouldnt be caught dead in them..thats why suv's were invented.

We did take pics but our phones cameras are not the best and it was right around 7pm so the light was ******. I had one of those Grand Caravans for work and I got rear ended twice and hit a snow drift with the front end doing 30mph. I was shocked to see how much damage was done to her van.

That sucks but glad everyone was OK. That's crazy the PD won't come out for a clear MVA.

WildBillyT 09-25-2012 10:05 AM

BJs may have security tapes, too.

Our area down here is hurting pretty bad and they local police stations dont have enough officers on duty. If it were a accident on a road were the cars needed to me moved or with injuries then they would but for a 15 mph fender bender they dont.

Thanks.. Didnt even think about that one. .

sweetbmxrider 09-25-2012 10:19 AM

Definitely get as much proof of her being at fault as you can. She can turn around and deny it then you have to prove it in court. Glad you guys are ok and the damage isn't horrible AND that your daughter wasn't in the car. That would have been a frightening experience. Follow up on all the advice given though and hope everything goes the way it should.

Slow-V6 09-25-2012 10:24 AM

Thanks everyone. I am hoping its as simple as our insurance calling us back and saying that She claimed to be at fault and Her insurance is paying for everything. That would be great. From the pics we sent USAA they told us it will be hard for her to deny being at fault from were the damage on the car is and were our cars were in the parking lot.

^ Yup.

the problem with this is, i was involved in a fender bender like this as well a few years back in a wawa parking lot. after going through insurances over the phone as well as making a local police report (it was in new egypt they have nothing better to do) it was more than a hassle. i was told at the time by not only my insurance but theirs that a parking lot is private property and when that happens its up to each party to claim through their own insurance.

i hope this isnt the case anymore though, this was like 10 years ago.

Too true
Had a girlfriend that drove one... well I guess you could call it driving. Let's just say after the first time I was in it with her I made sure to take my truck instead.

If they are anything like my previous employer they will not release them with out a police report, and they only release them to the police.

Yeah, I wasn't really mentioning it so he could get them himself, more of a "if stuff goes south, these may be of use somehow."

Slow-V6 09-26-2012 12:29 PM

Got the estimate done yesterday on the G8. 1100.00. Been on the phone a bunch of times with her Allstate agents.
