Need a hood anyone have a lead in the yards?
Before anyone asks no its not for the F bodies. But my daily driver met a deer a couple nights ago. Big son of a bitch... I want to say at least 5 feet at the shoulder. 18 points and was longer than the car was wide. On 517 in Sparta near the middle school. I was just driving and in the time it took me to blink my eyes, the road when from clear to big ****ing deer in the middle of the road; and no time to stop for it. Poles and embankment to one side, guardrail and drop to the other. Was going to have a wreck just a matter of how big of a wreck I chose. I decided in a split second to hit the deer, flicking the wheel and locking up to get the car at an angle hoping he would roll off, he did fortunately. But my hood needs to be replaced. Does anyone have a lead on a hood and grille off the following cars?
2000-2004 Subaru Outback wagon 2000-2004 Subaru Legacy sedan 2002-2006 Subaru Baja I don't care about the color, I can have Maaco or someone quickly spray the hood for cheap if I scuff it up and prep it when I get the chance to do the paint. But I do need the hood so if anyone has a lead on one in the yards for reasonable cost I'll follow up on it. Would rather not have to drive too far to get one because of the chance that I may not get a good hood out of the drive. I will be checking Newton once the snow melts. Thanks guys. I'm using the GTA to get around for now. |

They have a ton of stuff, but a whole hood is not one of them. The grille I can get, but if I get a hood at the yard I won't need the grille providing its in good shape. I may try the Allentown Harry's yard, but no inventory means I may come away with nothing. On top of that, I don't have a real way to get a hood home, unless I take the untrustworthy truck, or drive the Subie down there risking the hood hitting the windshield to swap hoods when I find one. Most places online are asking 190+ for a hood shipped and that is only with primer and disassembled meaning I would need to find the latch and other things to make it work. I can get one from Harry's for 35 bucks. You can see why I'd rather just try a yard.

why not drive without any hood and pop the new one on once located?

And Bonzo, thanks for that link. Price is a bit high IMO, but I'll keep those in mind. I'll see if Newton turns up anything before I try something else. |
$199 shipped new repro part

I'd take a used OE hood over a repro any day.
